As everybody's said, it's the difference in tone between the two shows. Zyuohger's core story is about a regular guy, not an overly genki hotblooded annoying Red, just a capable leader, who is also a goddamn zoologist, taking care of a bunch of animals. They just happen to be his transforming teammates as well. He is the one being introduced to this brand new world and race as much as the zyumans are to his. This above all else is the core story and how Zyuohger is presented to us.
Kyoryuger presents itself as an ensemble based story but just ends up having Daigo all up in your face and acting like basically every hotblooded genki Red. I mean, at least it's just the zyumans being all over Yamato and not everybody in the goddamn world that he ever meets ever as they give him a unique nickname to show how awesome he is.

Hell, the whole first arc was about him accepting that being the team's power forward wasn't always going to be good enough. It feels much more theatrical and spirited than ToQ and Ninnin did, though ToQ won me over the longer it went on.
They're making you really enjoy the characters, they're selling me on the toys despite me really disliking them at the start(Still don't particularly care for the suits but I'll grow to enjoy them like all the other seasons), the mech fights don't forget the characters who aren't part of it, the action is pretty good and gives its fair share to everyone, and I'm interested in the bad guys. Oh, and the music choice is top notch.
I have some high hopes for this one.

ToQ's excellent cast suffered from a mediocre plot since they had to juggle having no backstory for most of the season.
ZyuOh is pretty similar, except the setting is more straightforward, which makes it nicer overall.
