Will naturalistic art styles ever make a come back?
>>13992855
That looks like ass.
>>13992855
Anime has been diverging from looking too lifelike for a while and for two reasons
>that style rarely looks good to most viewers
>it's harder to animate compared to the simplicity of modern stylization
>bobsapp.jpg
>>13992855
uncanny valley as fuck
>>13992891
>>13992855
that implies they were ever popular in the first place.
>>13992960
So many waifus, so little time.
>>13992924
I legitimately thought this was a page from Terra Formars until I clicked the thumbnail.
>>13992888
>Anime has been diverging from looking too lifelike
It's never even looked lifelike
>>13992960
Who else here enjoys the 60s and 70s the most?
>>13992855
No, who wants 2DPD?
>>13993144
NORMIE GET OUT! RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>13992855
Ikegami's designs are impossible to get right in anime, yet alone modern anime. But yeah, I'd love seeing anime characters that resemble human beings and have realistic body proportions.
Source is Wounded Man OVA. I'm watching it now. I love the art style and character designs.
>>13993242
She spends a significant portion of this OVA naked.
>>13993249
>>13993262
>>13993220
Why? Do you not get enough of it when you go to your job or whatever? Or are you just one of those people that thinks more realistic is always better?
>>13993242
You should check out the Crying Freeman manga. It's fantastic.
>>13993274
Why do you downloads mangos?
Suddenly Trump
>>13993278
That was a random image I downloaded to post, but the question is, why not download mangos?
>>13993274
Did that have an OVA? I like checking out OVAs before reading comics.
>>13993293
>not streaming your mangoos from Mangoofox
>laughing fedoras.gif
>>13993298
It does have an OVA, but the art quality is much lower. They kept changing the designs every episode for some reasons. The OVA is alright, but it's much tamer compared to the mangathere's a scene where a woman is lusting for Freeman's dick and wants to have sex with him, but he's literally controlling his dick and even after lots of sucking doesn't get it hard just to annoy her (she was a villain, Freeman already has a harem of badass women and he pretty much seduces them by fucking them)
>>13993293
Where do you download them? I can mostly just find torrents for anime but not comics.
>>13993358
For older shit try bakabt.
>>13993310
>streaming everything
>being up shit creek when you don't have internet or your favorite site dies
>>13993424
I can't find any comics on there, just animation.
>>13993358
Bakabt has most of the completed ones, madokami has scans of licensed stuff and of course, ongoing stuff. I generally don't read ongoing stuff, so bakabt works for me.
>>13993059
Me. Kinda.
>>13993712
Why posting from an early 80s series then?
Nothing wrong with the choice, really. Just curious.
>>13993242
ovas require ova money son
you want more shit like that, you need to boost japan's economy back to where it was in the 80s
>>13993727
OVAs cost like 3-4 regular episodes per 30 minutes to make. It's just that there's no OVA market any more.
I think something like crowd funding could take the place of OVAs.
>>13992960
>>13993059
I like the early to mid 90's best personally. Much more stylish and diverse than the 80's, but not to some of the bizarre extremes that come from the late 90's and beyond. A near perfect middle ground!
>>13993723
I just like Kogawa's style, is all.
>>13992855
It doesn't seem likely. Disgusting subhuman mutant character designs seem to be holding strong with no end in sight.
>>13992924
Is he like the only black guy in Japan? Is that why they always default to Black=Bob Sapp?
>>13992960
A lot of those are very naturalistic designs. Particularly the late 80s-early 90s ones.
>>13992855
I'd rather they g back to 60's era disney desu
>>13992855
>watches cartoons
>wants them to be realistic
what's the point?
>>13994367
You can make action stories for a fraction of the budget of live action. These OVAs and films cost almost nothing to make compared to a live action movie.
>>13994506
>action stories
>realism
>>13994581
Actually there used to be a time when plot was still important in anime.
Now we get Swordart Online instead of Hack/Sign.
Thank Sithis for bakabt.
>>13993059
70s had the cutest girls. The general trend was for things to be simple, but a bit more stylized to make things distinct. Look at those curly hair-styles. That's where it was at.
>>13992855
>ever make a come back
it was never popular
>>13993810
You know, he's probably worked on more stuff than we'll ever know. He's used at least two other pen names. It wouldn't be too shocking if he's used more
>>13993269
Damn. Did the OVA cover the entire manga? DID YOU LEARN THE TRUTH BEHIND GPX!?
>>13994243
More or less. He's the most famous one.
>>13993358
With Crying Freeman, I believe the scans use the old Viz release. The new Dark Horse release has a better translation, and is five much cheaper omnibus volumes.
>>13993358
Look up madokami. You'll also look up how to register.
>>13992855
When were they ever around outside of a couple one off manga advertis- sorry "high budget mature OVAs" from the 80s?
>>13992960
Tatsuo Yoshida/Amano designs for Casshern and Gatchaman are pretty realistic all things considered.
These threads are fucking cancer.
