Victory is my favorite series overall and I think that the scene was damn good for several reasons, but it can't beat the completion of Amuro and Char's rivalry or the grief that finally hits Al at that moment.

I don't mind CCA's ending. If that sort of shit were happening all the time it would be one thing. But it's the climax of the entire Gundam saga. It works in that context, even with the heavy-handedness. It works as a thematic capstone. It has a sweetness and sincerity that resonates. I think that Gundam really should've just ended after CCA. But that's not the way this shit works. It gets ratings, it sells merch.

I always find this funny when only 3 Zeon pilots are shown to help, the majority of humanity even on Earth have no idea what's going on even by the end (no-one knows what the light is and the Feds don't tell people about Axis), the colonies are full of Char supporters (the Feds are afraid to act for fear of riling them up and they blow up some guns as is) and even a lot of people on the scene aren't in favor of it if you take the people on the Rewloola as an example.
