You are correct, however, that the Turn A design was not influential. No element of its design was ever copied by any later Gundam designer.
Tomino did pull the MLB out of mothballs (or at least an attack that looked a lot like it) during G-Reco, but that's literally the only thing about the Turns that has ever been copied, and a writer referencing his own works hardly counts as "influential".
