Is there any work of media that thoroughly explores the idea of organic mechs? Except maybe Evangelion.

The vajra are basically organic mechs, and that one tenchi muyo has a giant robot that's a tree like the rest of jurai tech.
There's Guyver, but that's more powersuit.

The mecha in Brain Powerd are all organic and are sentient. They can't speak but they do have personalities.

Brain Powerd would have been a lot cooler if the mecha skated along the ground like that instead of t-pose flying, and I say that as somebody who thought the action was decent.

Unfortunately the show was animated by a D-team so it's pretty rough for the first half and there's a couple of episodes with some awful animation.
Still, the mecha designs are fantastic and the show is really weird but pretty good. Definitely Kanno's weirdest OST though.
