That was the point.
ROTJ comes out and we find out Vader's Luke's father, we see Luke and he's doing shit like Dark Siders would do like force choking niggas, dressing in black and threatening Jabba. It represents the whole "agent of evil" thing Yoda was afraid of and the audience is like "could Luke go to the Dark Side".
At the end of the movie it's revealed he was wearing white underneath the whole time anyway so the turmoil had been settled.
