Its a toss up between MMPR and the original Star Wars trilogy. For actual /m/ content its more likely the megazords from MMPR but I reaaly liked the ships from SW.

I wouldn't have thought Star Wars would fit the category but I guess that would be my first as well.
I saw Blue Blazes which was JPN and live action, but didn't have many special effects.
I've still never seen any sentai stuff

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't Power Rangers.
But I barely watched that past the movie, I only got into watching it in Japanese like 6 or so years ago.
Got started with Gokaiger (got in around episode 10), then started Fourze because it was airing simultaneously. Then I started going backwards in time starting with Os and it all spiraled out of control from there.Not pictured: the shitloads of other stuff on other drives and media storage.

I grew up watching the original MMPR series but never got into other toku series untilsomeone kept dumping Drive webms in the Flash talkback threads on /co/and I decided to give it a shot.
I'm slowly working my way through different franchises. Having Crunchyroll throw up a bunch of Ultraman helps a lot.

Power Rangers like most people.
Especially when Tommy/Green Ranger showed up. He not only looked cooler and had the best Zord, but he was the earliest example of a bad guy being redeemed. He wasn't inherently bad, just misguided or misunderstood. This edgelord attitude and design appealed to my younger self and became a pattern in other franchises (Epyon, Sesshoumaru, etc)

Ultraman, Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot and Spectreman, though all of those are dubs. Stan Lee himself thought of the idea of bringing over Sentai first, but never got the chance.

Well, I watched Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as a kid like I assume most others on /m/ did. Years and years later I was browsing YouTube and a recommended video for me was (although I didn't know it at the time) the fight from Kamen Rider Kabuto between Tendou and the worm that looks like Kagami's brother in the rain. I thought it was really cool, but it didn't actually say what it was on the video, and it didn't have any comments in English, so I didn't really pay it any mind. Then one day I started browsing /m/ because I'd started playing Super Robot Wars on the recommendation of a friend and really liked it, and I saw Kabuto in an OP picture and thought "Hey, it's that guy! Maybe I can find out what he's from now" and that was that. Kabuto was the first Rider series I watched, and since then I watched a bunch of others and enjoyed them, watched some Super Sentai although it's not really my bag (although I do love the music and the designs), and I'm starting to make forays into Ultraman

I was always into Gerry Anderson shows and adored them as a child with all the model work and such. I remember seeing Power Rangers and thinking "Why don't they just focus on the models and the fighting and leave all the other crap behind?" when I was young.
Later on, I came to /m/ and eventually watched the first episode of Sun Vulcan. And then I was hooked.
I was a hipster jerk collecting weird VHS. Stumble upon Spectreman. Then my world changed. Sent $40 to a guy for 3 episodes of Kamen Rider! Then Power Rangers starts and I start watching waiting for the video to change into that darker greener film look - Japanese footage! Now my friends think I'm a weirdo....

Being a wee little Japanese Anon I watched Kamen Rider Black (and bits of RX), and Jetman raw via imported VHS tapes. I also caught Ultraman: Toward the Future as it aired stateside.
Watched it as a kid but can barely remember it.
Then I saw Linkara's video series on Power Rangers and I watched a few seasons on Netflix.
Then a friend told me about Gokaiger and I picked it up around episode 10. I wasn't sure about Riders at the time, so I waited until after Fourze was over to see the next one.
I guess there was nowhere to go but up from there.

My friend watches a lot of tokusatsu so I thought I will watch tokusatsu too so maybe I could talk about tokusatsy with him. I downloaded Kamen Rider Black and after like 3-4 episodes thought it was shit. I then told my friend I've watched tokusatsu called Kamen Rider Black and thought it was shit. Then he told be only dirty apes and portuguese like Kamen Rider Black and told me to watch Kamen Rider W. I've started watching Kamen Rider W and thought tokusatsu might not be shit.

Power Rangers and Saban's Masked Rider during my childhood, like many of us. We didn't get toku like our neighbors in Brazil.
Watching Linkara's History of Power Rangers a few years ago revived my interest in the series and started to look more into its history myself (i.e., read the Wikipedia pages). Having found about Sentai, I decided to give it a try... With Gokaiger. Not the smartest of things in the long run, but it really got me into toku and here I am. Then I started watching the ongoing series of both Sentai and Rider, ToQger and Gaim (the latter after I failed to watch Kuuga), and the rest is history.

First MMPR up till SPD skipping ninja Storm.
I loved it as a kid, then I started to feel hit and miss on some seasons and decided to drop it. Keep in mind that it's mostly because I had a fixed idea of what PR is, so for example, I didnt like Time Force as a kid for being too serious. At some point I started watching it out of habit and when Wild Force ended I decided to drop it altogether(the same year I decided to drop the pokemon anime for being shit for similar reasons). Then the DT suits being so similar to MMPR made me watch it out of curiosity and ended up watching SPD too. This was 2006.
In 2008-2009(not sure which) I was shitting around on the Internet and stumbled upon Kamen Rider. A download site I visited had Kabuto for download (probably tv-nihon's version, but I dont remember even if it was in english) and liked it, ironically, because then I wanted something more serious than at least MMPR. (I will eventually rewatch it to see if its as bad as /m/ says). Next year() I watched Faiz and didnt like it as much and wasnt interested in watching anything else.
In 2012 I started to pay attention to power rangers again and I downloaded the seasons I missed (and watched the then airing Samurai, but didnt like it as much). Then I watched OOO and the then airing Kyoryuger and Wizard, then Jetman and then I took it from there. Pretty much any time between then and now I was watching a toku show(be it Sentai, Ultraman or Rider and some other franchises) and just now I decided to stop for a bit.

I had a japanese friend back in the 90s that was part of our middle school's cultural exchange program. I knew conversational japanese but could barely write it and we started talking. He said he liked dark action heroes and he had a complete VHS of Kamen Rider Black. I had to ask him to translate a few things but holy hell that show was amazing. I was 11 and although I had to rewatch it a few times but afterwards I wanted to watch more. Sadly RX was running at the time and the internet wasn't the bastion of streaming it is now and only got to watch RX around 2010.

I was raised with Power Rangers like every kid was here, but I did get to watch a bootleg VHS of Jet Jaguar's movie, and was really into Lightspeed Rescue, so /m/ and rescue shows have always had me super interested.
Dairanger, although as a child I enjoyed PR Time Force, I didn't like Wild Force so I quit watching PR.

A lot of Godzilla i havent seen, mostly the 80s/90s stuff. Still haven't seen stuff like Ultra man. Sure I'll love it all when I get to watching it. Still young .
I was a PRfag for many years. The hype surrounding pic related showed me that in Japan they actually gave a shit about their version of the show and put their heart and soul into it.
Godzilla movies as a very young kid, then my dad would joke around throwing a little plastic turtle toy and referring to Gamera, then I finally saw the Gamera movies when MST3k covered them, then Ultra Seven on TNT, odds and ends of moonmedia through the years, then one time at a con I caught the first couple of eps of Zyu and Dai subbed, then soon after I dumb lucked into a massive VHS collection w/ Zyu, Dai, Kaku, and a bunch of other stuff including Johnny Sokko (with the cut scenes restored in raw moon), Space Giants, the KR movies, and so on.

Started with MMPR, watched random episodes growing up til about Ninja Storm. When I was out of the country, I got my first taste of Metal Heroes with Jiban, even played a Jetman video game. Think I saw a few episodes of 4kidz Ultraman Tiga on Fox.

I watched all the Saban shows when I was a kid, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Big Bad Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, even a little Masked Rider, awful as it was. As I got older and went through my edgy phase I tried to convince myself that I hated Power Rangers, but would still watch it whenever it was on, self-justifying it as "ironic". One day in high school, I was bumming around Youtube, and I happened to remember Masked Rider for no particular reason, so I looked it up to see if it was as bad as I remembered, and the first thing I found was Kiva's first henshin. I tried to convince myself it was stupid and I didn't want to watch it, but curiosity got the better of me and I stumbled onto TV-Nihon. The floodgates opened and all of my love for spandex heroes came rushing back. Now Sentai and Rider are part of my weekly routine, and I love it (no more TV-Nihon, though, got sick of those guys around Wizard).
Always had a tongue in cheek thing for MMPR. Watched reruns when they're on for the lulz because hammy acting. Knew it was japanese, didn't care. Notice Fox Kids at the time was rerunning Time Force around the same time Mystic Force was starting. Watch it. Find out it's actually a fucking good adaptation. Get a little into MMPR again. Stop when it gets New Zealandy and fucking awful.
Years later, find /m/ streaming Super Hero Time - friends on IRC watch it for Precure, I started watching Kamen Rider and Sentai from about Gokaiger onwards, on and off. Still see bits, though mostly still watching Precure/Dragonball Super on a saturday night - the latter for QUALITY reasons only.
