in all seriousness, cast-off is a fantastic gimmick, but what mechs really make good use of it though? Off the top of my head I can only name like, Ultra Magnus going by his Diaclone toy, the Duel Assault Shroud and Akito's Black Selena from the Nadesico movie.

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as a Mech, is in fact, メカニカル, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Mecha. Mecha is not a genre unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning concept made manifest by the existence of vehicles, military equipment and of course, robots, comprising a full concept as defined by MAHQ.
Many posters use a modified definition of the メカニカル term every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of メカニカル which is widely used today is often called Mech, and many of its posters are not aware that it is basically the Robotech term, developed by Harmony Gold.

Not entirely true. Acceleration is force divided by mass. If a skinny person and a fat person apply the same force, the skinny one's going to go faster. If you can apply more force you can overcome more mass, but to say that being slow has NOTHING to do with your weight is just plain wrong.

He's right though, if you're slow then you're out of shape. Whether they're a hungry skeleton (like myself), a roided-up gym rat, or a lard-blooded burger beast, if you're slow then you're out of shape. Too much muscle isn't healthy and requires ridiculous diets, not enough muscle means you probably don't get enough physical activity. However you don't need a ton of muscle to be in shape, you just need to be able to perform a good amount of strenuous physical activity without over-exerting yourself. Running, the human body's specialty, is the perfect indicator of it.
