what really happened:

They will send subliminal messages via bioelectricity to nearby living things(phone users) to move toward the weak-hearted being in order to havest its bio electricity. The fat man with a weak heart, targetted by the insects, was standing on the train station platform, and got accidentally pushed onto the tracks by unaware phone users influenced by the insects. As more people subconsciously move to the fat guy's location, it eventually became a clusterfuck with a large crowd of people wither moving or being pushed onto the train tracks.

I honestly think show don't tell is a bullshit thing to enforce. Yes it's often a nice rule, but depending on the narrative and setting it can take longer if you always followed that route. Like many writers have said, showing is for when something is important and dramatic, telling is there to help move the plot along. If War and Peace did nothing but show, that novel would be 2600 pages long.
