I don't know if I like the new VF's yet. The VF-31 just feels like Kawamori date raped a VF-25 with a VF-19 and called it a day. And while I like the concept behind the Sv-262 and the shapes, I'm not crazy about the proportions. Though I'm a bit of a Viper fag so I might be disappointed it doesn't resemble pic related more.

I'd assume the Var syndrome affects more than just zentradi. Some humans or the other races vould get affected as well. Also, micronized zentradi.
You don't need a VF to fight human-sized people. If they are fighting full sized zentradi, they send in the VFs alongside the idols. If the affected people are microns, why would you send in the VFs? Just send in a bunch of people trained in hand-to-hand and give them some guns, keep the VFs for when you need to deal with giants.
You want things to make sense? Think then.
Why do they send the idols to the frontlines? Well, they are a pretty good distraction. Performers are supposed to get the attention of people, and getting the attention of the rabid people means they aren't attacking civilians, and that's always a plus.
