Sven wasn't good. He was a child soldier raised by the army filled with propaganda and hate. He gave led an attack that murdered everyone at a refugee camp because they were suspected of harboring terrorists. He only vaguely becomes less of a bad person because Selene doesn't want to die alone and doesn't know about his past which he never talked about, and Also because Sven just gave up and became apathetic and compliant after getting shot out of the earthsphere.
