A movie might be the best way to go at this point. I hate to sound negative but I think the characters have gone as far as they really can at this point. Even GX was struggling here.
But a movie could introduce a new threat from Babylon for the geahs to face without needing to fill out several hours of character.
We could use Ver's chip as the means to confront them and save the day and wrap it all up in about an hour and a half with enough time to get a song for everyone and a big group song at the end

The question then became, "is it worth it to compromise nearly the entire episode for this disgusting last shot?" In my opinion, no.
On top of this, the unmatted 4x3 version has incomplete animation work in the revealed areas. The original release was always intended to be cropped (it's the same as TV shows that are remastered to HD in 16x9, and suddenly have light stands, crew members, and missing effects on the sides), so the 4x3 version should only be considered an extra.
