In Destiny, he's a terrorist firing upon ZAFT soldiers because he doesn't want Orb soldiers to die. He's not fighting for peace or anything, he just wants Orb out of the war. And then when Durandal becomes the final boss, the show treats Kira like his shit doesn't stink even more than before. And all this is framed as Kira finding resolve and putting behind the doubts about his actions.
Which comes to a peak when he says that if war breaks out again because of the unresolved issues, he'll put a stop to it.

Wing's entertaining enough for random nonsense like the bad guys assassinating a guy by shooting him in the head after throwing him out of a private jet, or one of the main characters flinging himself across the battlefield by standing next to an exploding shuttle.
On the other hand, Destiny's nonsense (and Seed to a lesser extent) just kind of fall apart and hurt your brain if you try to think about it. It's not even silly entertaining, it's kind of dumb at points.
