Eh, I think it would look okay if the feet were flat and it had more dark armor covering everything else to make it look like a more proper 'full armor' variation.
Of course the whole problem with armoring-up the Barbatos is that they got issues covering the joints since they are the trademark design cue of that gundam. Except...it make zero sense from an egineering perspective to armor it up elsewhere and leave huge gaps in the armor.

I want a mecha designer who can actually draw a mobile suit as it's meant to be. That means a machine of war, towering, massive, powerful, deadly. You look at most modern mecha designs and they all look like ballerinas. Maybe nice but not realistic at all especially for the real robot genre.
It's a problem not only with Gundam but with most modern mecha series. Look at Knights of Sidonia. The mecha look nice but holy shit they're thinner than an anorexic person.
Even Macross suffers from this disease to a lesser extent. Valkyies have become thinner and thinner is battroid mode. They're supposed to be fucking robots not stickmen.

Yeah, you know, giant robots that would crumble under their own weight should look even heavier. That'd make them more realistic.
In all seriousness though, I think mecha designers make such thin and sleek designs because of the visual information they can pass. There's a lot you can tell from a design by merely looking at it.
Why they use the dude in armor as base? Because it's the most general appeal of all the bodies. Since most mechs are "general purpose", this body is used to notify that they are all-rounders and can perform in any area.
Bulkier designs are generally used for mechs that need to look tougher than the basic robots. In general, more armor also means they pack more destructive power. It's also why so many super robots have very bulky bodies.
Special snowflake designs use the basic body type instead of bulky bodies because they're general appeal, all they have to do is make it more detailed than the others and you can immediately tell it's the main guy and, from a marketing point of view, bulkier designs are generally less popular than the thin ones in the same series.Unless it's Cherno Alpha
