But plot isn't everything, all the characters suck.
It's getting a little better though. We are getting to see more villains who actually have personalities, there's more fights that feel like they have actual stakes, at least more than just "Spectre is a dick, look at this new toy". And oh yeah, we are finally having at least some episodes that aren't a 23 minute Eyecon commercial.
The thing that separates a good show from a bad show is that while a good show still has bad episodes, you are still entertained by the characters and don't just wanna gauge their eyes out. Seriously Takeru is the most white bread protagonist i've ever seen in Kamen Rider. At least Haruto had his sarcastic quips and odd habits, Takeru is just "I'm dead and i have this one objective"

If you didnt pay attention that is, there's also his admiration for heroes and how each arc has him developing a relationship with them which in turn either develops him or fleshes him out. Now, for example he's debating how should the ganma problem be approached.

IMO, Takeru being boring is more due to the actor being not that good (not Takaharu from Ninnin bad, just flat) than the writing of the character. They shouldn't have cast someone so young.
I'd say, subjectively speaking, Ghost is a better show than Drive at the same point in their episodes. Ghost started off worse, but had steadily been getting better. Drive started off okay, but at this point was pretty boring.
Drive got great in its early 20's, hopefully Ghost does the same.

Honestly I kind of like Takeru. He's usually pretty incompetent, but what some don't realize is that his incompetence is part of his character arc. He's slowly learning from the Great Souls and his father and using their advice to better himself as a person. He's a stupid dead 18 year old that, between the Ganma invasion and bringing himself back to life, is thrown into a situation which he doesn't quite understand or know how to fix. It seems like most people here just want a driven and capable hero from the start instead of embracing a character with an intentional learning curve. Personally I find characters like Takeru much more relatable because if I (or most of the anons here) were put in a position like his, I'd be an absolute mess.
