Which Evangelion BD encode is the least edited from the original release? Seems like they're all filtered or color-corrected.
I have nothing against encoders trying to make shit look nicer, I'm just curious what the studio thought was good enough to put out.

The Eva BDs put out were and are pretty shit.
Anno made them look like the poorly-colored DVD remaster rather than stick to the true colors of the film. No one knows what the fuck is wrong with Anno's head.
[2D4U] is going to be the sharpest and best overall without color correction. Incidentally, also includes dub audio.
[Sephirotic] is another good one, but he went through, scene by scene and corrected colors and brightness levels to more closely match and older DVD release. He also put in several languages of subtitles. No dub.
RX782, who made the [2D4U] encode, didn't do EoE since Sepherotic beat him to it.
The only "loss" is that Seph didn't add the dub. But that's really no loss at all.

At least you can see the detail of the actual linework drawn on the cels.
Magic Knight Rayearth, like Eva, would have been shot on 16mm film.
16mm film shows very apparent grain when enlarged to HD resolutions like 1080p and above.
Some fuckwit encoders got it in their heads that grain, a natural part of the filming process, is a bad thing and needs to be removed from the final products.
MKR there has a terrible overuse of bad filters leading to the garbage there.
There's no reason for you to get so ass blasted about it. Just download an encode that doesn't fuck with the grain.

The whole reason it wasn't released until last year was because he was waiting for Gainax and the entire Project Eva's rights to it to expire. Once those lapsed, he could remaster it with Khara and keep all the money for himself.
