No they don't. The idea is fine and everyone with two brain cells gets the point, but what I am saying is that the actual execution is severely lacking. When you make a character based show like that, it's absolutely vital to make sure the characters interact well and are memorable. Gargantia is not like that all; most of the characters are pretty shallow and the interactions are usually cliche and trite. And the last arc is still incredibly rushed.

Krugal just shows up with little build up externally and the arc which should have more overt indecisiveness and generate more internal conflict from Ledo just wraps up quickly. Sure he has the generic "questioning himself phase," but after a pep talk, he's makes his decision. It's not interesting.

It's based around trite things like eating at restaurants, dull work, being chased by weirdos, belly dancing, etc. If those sol were well-done with characters that felt like more than cardboard cutouts, maybe the show could have been great. But as it is, you slog through a bunch of episodes that feel tedious and develop a cliche story.
