I know Banana, Kira and Kio jaded you guys, but you know most Gundam pilots kill when they have to, and get good sleep regardless.
Even Loran got a few kills towards the end of Turn A, and that was against his own people.
Amuro, Kamille, Judou, Seabook, Usso, Heero, Garrod and Setsuna all took the shot when the cards were down, so regularly the viewer didn't even think about it.
Setsuna was much the same up until the last two episodes or so. Jappos love UNDERSTANDING, so expect Mika to make a complete 180 shortly.

Like Amuro has told us, when we look at a giant robot there's no person there. Killing 10^26 Leo's is irrelevant because we never actually see and people die, no battle damage on the suit, no death cries. Just a pretty explosion and onto the next one. People always call Kira a pacifist who had never killed, despite him destroying two battleships with no crew able to escape, markedly because the ships are visually treated as static objects. There's no cut to hallways filled with fiery death, no soldiers waiting for the ship to explode as they rush the escape pods. Until we the viewer see the anguish, nobody is hurt no matter how many suits detonate.

He gets understandably mad when you hurt his loved ones, but otherwise he's pragmatic to a fault.
And that is a good thing considering that the usual Gundam pilot is prone to irrational behavior, mood swings and psychotic episodes.
His key fault is his blind loyalty. But since he placed it in a competent, selfless, if a little green leader like Orga, things might turn out okay.
