From what I remember it was actually pretty good. It had an interesting story line, I mean it was basically the matrix like a decade before the movie ever came out. I also liked the ending because it was more realistic, the protag doesn't magically win, he loses, and it nicely sets up another confrontation. Though from what I remember the 2nd and 3rd OVAs were kind of let downs.

First episode is great. Probably a direct inspiration for The Matrix. Has a hilarious scene in which important plot details are discussed during a sex scene.
"TA KA NA KA YUI!" is the line I remember most.

I wish the 2nd episode had actually been a 2nd episode and not the edgy bro-tastic Fist of the North Star thing that we got. The end of the 1st ep was unsatisfying but I loved the MAXIMUM CONSUMERISM 80s vibe, and taking it away makes me hate the 2nd ep just for being different.

Man, its very few and far between that I come across anything anime that fails this hard. I even read the comic book adaptation to this, and despite the fact that they redrew and rewrote certain elements around to better fit their universe, it still felt like it didn't belong and made so very little sense.

Yay for the first 2 chapters. The third one could be okay on its own, but as a sequel to the other two it kinda sucks.
Megazone 23 during the second chapter outdoes even the epic Minmay singing in DYRL against the Boldoza fleet. Eve trumps Minmay, suck it up Macross fans. :)

Not american hence didn't grow watching robotech,but holy shit what kind of Frankenstein's monster I saw. I cannot fathom how much of the stuff they might have altered in other robotech media but seriously why they did that ?

After Megazone 23 Part 1 I fell in love with Suzuki Katana design and Kumi Miyasato's songs. Now I think of getting a motorcycle driving license.
When I watched it for the first time, I thought that Part II is better.
Part III had nice character design (Non-Char is named Zion), but the rest was pretty meh. And why did they not invited Kumi? And why does nobody know anything about her?

I only saw part 1 and 2. How come character designs were changed DRASTICALLY in pt 2? It made me like it less. I loved part 1's designs, especially Yui's. That juicy mix of design and greenblue hair.
