I just finished the anime yesterday. There were too many pointless characters/factions in s2. Autozam was the best faction and their machines were gorgeous. I was hoping Lantis would summon a Mashin like Zagato did. I read about some of the differences between the anime and manga, and I wish they includedGod Mokona.

How so? It's been many years since I've watched it, but I seem to recall that they get sent home without any way of going back, which seems pretty final. In the manga ending they can go back whenever they want, but everything's peaceful.
The big problem with the anime ending is thatHikaru should have been disqualified from becoming Pillar since she was in love with Lantis, but she still became Pillar anyway, which didn't make sense. In the manga it's made clear that she only loves Lantis as much as she loves everyone else, which is pretty much the Pillar job description.

Well of course S1 has a much more impactful ending, specially if you manage to watch it without getting spoiled along the way. I'm glad they continued the series though, as S2 gave us a LOT more Mashin action, the Autozam mechas and Nova. I even liked the dancing twins with their weird ass genies, only the little Chinese princess was annoying.

The plot was weird and the tone was way too dark and serious. I didn't like that the girls didn't have weapons or armor or even any powers aside from connecting with the Mashins. The Mashin design was very hit or miss- Windam and Selece looked pretty cool, but Rayearth (or "Lexus" in this case) was just a giant furry with bits of armor here and there. The enemy Mashins were basically kaijuu, which is fine.
Overall I didn't like it because it was so far removed from Rayearth that it might as well have been a completely original work, if they'd just change the characters' names and designs. In fact, if that were the case I would probably have liked it more because I wouldn't have gone in expecting it to be Rayearth.

Just did a bunch of comparisons for the first episode of the BD to the DVD. The filters look worse than others in some places but not so much when you're not right in front of a PC monitor. I'm sure it'll be watchable on a TV.

Just finished stitching the 20 different screenshots I took. I'll dump a few but I'll dump 'em all if you guys want. They're all from the first episode, FYI.
The frames have also been moved up a little cutting off a small portion of the bottom seen in the DVD version.
Images like pic related look terrible but that's due to the drawings not being detailed in the first place. The faces are scrunched up so it didn't help when the filters were applied. Food for thought. Also, notice the now noticed detail in the cape when it moves. It was very faint in the DVD version.

Well, partial translation for one, a completed one (the missing colors), and a half finished one (making of magic knight) if I remember correctly. I did the latter two the other year. They're quite fun. Especially the dungeon crawler.

Where did they say that it was next month? The last I saw it was 2015 for DVD and 2016 for Blu Ray, but obviously that one's way out of date.
When Discotek starts pushing releases off it seems like they push them pretty far. Some of their turnarounds are timely, but some they announce and then never speak of again and Rayearth seems like it's in the latter group.

The only problem I have with OSTs is that I tend to find them in messed up files and sub par bitrates. And I can't find them anywhere else. The mods have made an exception when I uploaded some raws that had Chinese hardsubs as there were literally no other raws. But when it comes to audio quality I don't think they'll be as lenient.

The manga is short and feels a bit rushed at times. The anime is more entertaining in the long run, though some things got changed/messed up in the adaptation. The ending is very different.

Totally agree. Like you said, the anime improves upon things but is different from the manga. The latter feels way too rushed with not even a panel of the civilians of Cephiro in the crystal keep and very few scenes with the other factions in S2. While, on the other hand, the anime does.
