I'm trying to watch all the essential mecha anime. Just finished Layzner, and I was pretty disappointed. Should I start Macross, Mazinger, or Getter Robo next?

I can't give you an exact number, but probably 4:1. Most of the OVA is character development, though. I was kinda interested in seeing that sequel, though, what with the spaceship they find buried in Mara. AndI'm not even gay.
