Macross Cannon class is exclusive to Macross 2 like this multi-energy convergence cannon SDF-1 Macross.
The two universes diverged on design preferences. Macross 7, Frontier and Delta went with a separable cannon ship for safety with the Battle class and Quarter class. Macross II Macross class and Macross Cannon class went with more dakka. One Macross and six Macross Cannon class meant to be an a anti-fleet weapon.
The only ship that is the equivalent in terms of firepower and purpose was the Varauta Flagship Carrier which was originally built to destroy Zentradi ships to more than a thousand by Varauta colonists.
