Gravity Suit and the Phazon suit are both simple as well but they just hit a sweet spot for me.

Oh, I know the majority of the designs from the games I mentioned aren't original. But the way they were rendered can give the same suit a different look, which is why we can prefer the Prime Varia suit over the Other M Varia suit despite them stemming from the exact same inspiration.

But the way it is rendered isn't what separates Prime and Other M's Varia Suits, they're both different designs.
Zero Mission had different styled suits from Super Metroid, and Smash games never use new designs for them, they just get it from the original games. Up until Brawl, they were based on SM's Varia Suit.

The 2d games reward you with a different end screen depending on Item Collection rate and Time. These screens are artworks as a reward.
The Prime series only calculates Item Collection rate but Lore scans as well. The reward being additional ending scenes that tie the games together.
Varia Suit Echoes/Corruption
It kept the icon spherical pauldrons but proportioned them to be less bulky.
That and Samus's proportions weren't as fucked up as well.

the Prime Varia suit was my absolute favorite suit design. it's huge, powerful, the gun looks and feels like it's gonna HURT when it fires and Samus still looks like she can move in it.
it helped that Samus was such a badass that the Federation respected her and the Pirates feared her like some sort of Death-God.
Other M's cannon looks piddly, and the suit just feels...smaller, frailer....and the less said about Samus' portrayal in Other M the better.

Hey image dump anon: you're the best! I'd give you a thank you in general for your collection of images and file names, but this particular image is simply breathtaking. It captures exactly how I felt when I saw my first Chozo statue in Zero Mission.
I knew Samus's backstory pretty well even before playing it, but it still hit me really hard when I got the first map direction and recharge when I realized that this planet was the very same one that she was raised on and molded by. That she is now returning to a planet she once knew so well but is now defiled by the same pirates that took away so many important things from her. Yet despite this travesty, the same Chozo who had saved her did not abandon her even in death, with the signs of their dedication to her being carved on stone(and into stone) in the form of statues and upgrade.
Sorry for the long winded ramble. Truth be told, my thoughts at the time weren't as specific as these reflections, but that particular animation detail where the statue would close its hands ever so slightly tighter when giving Samus the recharge really surprised me. It made me wonder about what could be been going on in her mind at the time.
