Here's a question for you /m/, one shoulder cannon, or two shoulder cannons?
Two shoulder cannons have more fuck-off value to them, but asymmetry is pretty aesthetically pleasing.

I wouldn't mind single shoulder if they used the space on the other shoulder to put a fire radar, energy shield generator, a whole stack of flares, etc.
Then again single-cannon units are rare enough as they are. A cannon and nothing won't elicit a frothing rejection from me either.
A projectile launcher on the top corner of an up-right plane is about the worst decision you can make as far as physics is concerned. The MP Guntank in 08th MS team had it correct, dual shoulder mount on a robust triangular base frame.
But if it is recoilless like a beam cannon on Gelgoog Cannon then it is a totally different story.

Actually the more likely benefit of having multiple cannons IRL is the ability to sustain a higher rate of fire than if you only had a single cannon.

Oh man, it's been awhile since I've seen a Dom Cannon.
It was such a disappointing unit in Crossfire; that single cannon apparatus slowed down the normally pretty zippy Dom units so damn much.

Maybe it's just me, but when you have two shoulder cannons that feels like it's the main weapon. You're a dedicated support mech if you two shoulder cannons.
When you've got one shoulder cannon, you're still a regular mech, you've just got the added bonus of this giant cannon for added "fuck you" when needed. One cannon feels special, two cannons feels mundane.

It functions as the camera, which is why you need to blow it up in the game so the cockpit opens and you can start shooting Liquid with the Stinger missiles.
