"Explode the bikes" episode.
Battle Hopper feelings.
Thanks.
Working on Changeman movie 1. Hopefully we'll have it out tomorrow or Monday.

NEAT.
By the way, the flashman movie was in 16:9, not 4:3. The video got cropped or is it the original format?
I'm asking this because a had and old version of this and it was 16:9 too (same for the 2 changeman movies).
I think episodes for cinema may had different proportions.

It absolutely got cropped, but that's because Toei shot their movies in 4:3 even when they were meant to be seen in a wide format. I'd bet that they were matted to something wider than 16:9 in theaters, so the Blurays probably show more of the picture than you were originally meant to.

Probably this.
I also checked out my other movies (2 for kamen rider black and 1 for jiban) and all of them are in 16:9 too.
Toei and those strange video editions...

Jesus fuck, the image quality is TOP NOTCH.
Thanks so much.
I wish they released the older shows in bluray someday TT
The image quality of the films are awesome

I never understand why Japan is so obsessive with jurassic DVD format and why Toei take decades to release these shows...
Laziness is the only word I can use.
>>13829978
Tradition, and being highly adverse to change. Toei just happens to combine that with laziness.
>>13829978
Toei is jew as fuck
>>13829978
They're currently releasing the firsr Rider seires on BD, and have already released Black and Black RX. But yeah, older Sentai could use Blurays. Especially Jetman.

At least, there's still a spark of hope.

I have to say Toei really tried to do some new effects (specially in episode 1, movie, 6 and 7), usually for prism ball and prism boots, but the visual result was very bad... Too complicated using non-digital. Even Cybercops using chroma key, in the very beginning of the technology, got bad results.
About the episode, do not forget the mercenary balloon kid at the final, rah.
>>13836390
The use of chroma-key wasn't a new thing at all for Toei, but it wasn't used as frequently, and didn't look this bad.
>>13836595
Well, I'm doing a comparison with other effects, not doing a cold isolated single analysis. Take a look at pic related...
...It's a classic effect removing part of the scene manually, and then drawning above the physical film. Toei used it pretty well since Denjiman/Gaban and the quality is much better specially if got many frames, like Juspion, Spielban, Jiraiya or Jiban.
You may ask: "But they are different effects, using different video techniques for different scenes...". I agree. But my point is the far quality between those 2 in the same show: the quality effects varies too much and the final result is a strange mix of both.
In general, I think chroma key pre-1992 was pretty complicated to get great results, specially in Toei's shows with lower budget. That's what I'm talking about. If I do remember well, the only ones I REALLY liked was the ones in Gingaman and Go Go V (....1998-1999!, pre-CG time).

It certainly looks better on old and smaller CRT TVs
>>13837785
No doubt. By the way, KIDS watching it in a CRT in the 80s would never complain about anything. I did not.
I'm just doing a 'technical observation' as an old boring adult in 2016 while trying to look back to my childhood, haha.
