Shouldn't the fact that Theo searched a black-listed name be enough for the Stasi to come knocking on his door?
>>

Yeah, that's why he purposely avoided using the computer in the VN. It's just one more of those little unnecessary changes that make absolutely no sense.
>>

>>
>>13797484
In the LN IIRC he never searched for the name directly, he just looked up all the old news articles about battles from the 70s that he could find and realized that all mention of the commander of the 1st Panzerkorps disappeared shortly before Operation Palaiologos.
>>
>>13797585
I thought it was pretty clear that's what he did in the anime too, searching for his name wouldn't even work.

Why is this anime so boring?
>>
It is pretty fast paced, episode 2 already ended at chapter 7 of the VN, but then even each chapter were short on the VN. I think the original LN should be longer and more in depth than the VN.

But either way, the VN should still be the definitive version of the story.

So are there TSF designs of PAKFA T-50 and ATD-X Shinshin?
>>
>>13803415

The ATD-X comes from 2015's Lunatic Dawn issue. I believe drafts for the A-12 Avenger TSA is in there too, but the issue is named Schwarzesmarken primarily due to the focus being on the MiGs of the series.

The J-20 design is released as a doujin group work, not by age, and separate from the LDs. However, the mechanical designer for the J-20 design is credited directly to Kouki, so... yeah.

There is no official PAK-FA design yet.
>>
>>13803502
The only new designs in LD10 are MiG-21P and Su-15. ATD-X must be a doujin design too, none of that new shit would be canon because it's too far off in the timeline.

Why is it that both TE and Schwarz have TSFs slowly take off vertically and then convert to forward flight, whereas in the VNs when TSFs start flying from a stationary position they generally did it by leaning forward and then launching upwards and forwards at high acceleration?
>>
>>13804020
Because honestly it looks kinda dumb for TSFs to rocket off with instant acceleration the way they do in the VN

The TDA megatsunami spam is one-off. I don't think any kind of storage method short of contact-less electromagnetic holding field generators backed by protected independent batteries connected to the ship reactor would have saved them from any kind of damage.

>>13804151
You could reasonably expect to see a row of them kneeling on the top deck during alert phases or standby duties, if not just standing.

All the time is a bit too much, though. I presume lying down makes it easier to service the TSF and for pilots to get in or out without building an entire land-type hangar and the accompanying walkways, standing braces, and staircases without making the ships dangerously top-heavy. Besides, damage to the TSF is less if it has to smash something during choppy seas; given that they're braced in a holding frame on carriers with parking breaks and clamps etc., the chances of actually breaking free to smash something is even less.

Unless your ship gets tossed vertically upwards off the surface of the ocean by the spasms of a tortured planet's gravity field or something similar.
>>
>>13804357
Would take up a lot of space and greatly reduce the number of TSFs that can be carried by the ship if they are stored horizontally though.
>>
>>13804387
On the flip side, it makes them easier to secure because ain't nobody want ten ton robots falling over and breaking things in a storm.

68 KB, 553x809
>>13804387

I am advocating them lying down. Do you mean vertically (standing up) or horizontally (lying down)?

I guess what I wanted to say was that that if they were standing or even being on the top deck at all, it would be for the purposes of quick deployment. The carrier top deck has zero functions to secure a TSF at all. I doubt it is useful for anything other than sunning bored Marines, launching TSFs during ops, and for TSF pilots to make picturesque last stands.

If you have a QRF squadron on duty the pilots would probably already be in suit; it would be easier to keep their TSFs ready to sortie rather than have to drag everything out of the shed, locker, and closet, especially since most carrier TSFs are stored without jump units and pylons.

Of course there's nothing stopping them from putting everything together under sortie time limits, but I imagine that within the pre-mission time bracket or during major operations where they need to keep cycling fresh units under a tight time schedule, it would be reasonable to see TSFs at a corner of the top deck waiting for their turn at the catapult feet braces to launch instead the launch lift repeatedly going down to the lower deck to collect the TSFs.
>>
Did the Vietnam War happen in ML? It just came to mind when I was considering Pham's presence in East Germany.
>>
>>13804469
At the least, the Korean War probably happened on account of the Soviets continuing construction of their Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships prior to a conflict mentioned as such. Note that this is not mentioned in IW's timeline section but rather in IW's entry for the battleship itself.

Any allusions to the Vietnam War has yet to be mentioned at all.
>>
>>13804469

The presence of Pham in East Germany indicates at the very least a change of ownership of Indochina from the French to the Communists.
>>
>>13804469
It's showed in SM VN prologue, if i remember right
>>
>>13804387

The problem with storing things vertically taller than their standing base is always the risk of it falling over, especially dealing with something that has several bending points, like at the knees, and the waist, for a giant robot (especially one already built to be top-heavy for the purposes of high maneuverability). The taller they are, the greater the forces that act on them. Like >>13804428 mentioned you don't want one faceplanting itself in rough weather the moment it's not lashed to the deck.

The largest known TSF storage on a carrier is about 40 TSFs so I think the series is well and self-aware that safely storing them away is going to reduce the number of deployable TSFs from a carrier. The Japanese only do theirs standing-up because it's a remodeled tanker ship built for the express purpose of ferrying TSFs to and from the battlegrounds of the continental mainland/Sado Island. It has neither a catapult, extended operational endurance capacities or even ocean-going endurance for itself.

I like Minami Tanaka but she is pretty much awful in the anime, isn't she?

I don't think she more than half understands what the fuck she's voice acting to start with either. And I don't mean that in the sense of Yuuko's VA going "what the fuck am I reading" but just it not really being her type of anime. It would be a real shame to finally have Numakura in a robot anime and never get to see her in any of the promotional stuff while Minyami kind of stumbles through everything given the interest Nunu has in this kind of material.

You mean the Type-94s and F-15Js not seen in the capital during the Kyoto battle (no 1c is not a representation of the main Shiranui lineage), no grey Zuikakus mixed in amongst the F-4Js, only one Su-37 instead of a full squadron, no full-bodied models of the MiG-23/-27s as background scenery to chew, F-14Exs not portrayed being decimated by Idar despite doing everything correctly, the Mirage 2000s not seen clashing with Bao-Feng, the F-5Es not seen jobbing to everyone else, Yuuya ironing out the initial kinks in the XFJ-01 against Garuda's F-18 variants because the Hornets weren't even designed when TE was airing and only finally appeared in last year's LD, subpar battle choreography in the final battle until the last episode?

Mecha being underrepresented in a mecha show, of course I'm going to be a autist about it. The core mecha were retained? Of course they were, there wouldn't be a show about it at all otherwise.

Well, I suppose I should be thankful that battleships firing and bombers bombing weren't "weeeeeeeeeeew comin' in from offscreen cause we ain't got no budget for a glorified advertisement".

>>
>>13815005
Yes. There's fuck all difference anyways and they still wouldn't have modeled them to appear in 1/4 of an episode.

Still think they should have done Tomcat, although Schwarzesmarken being a different 3D studio makes the payoff there pretty marginal.
>>
But I mean the logic I guess with Tomcat is basically yes they only appear two places in the story (Kyoto and Iran team) but for that matter they only had F-4s appear in two places either (Kyoto and Africa team). Even that being the case with the Gekishits appearing in large numbers while the Tomcats just cameo, they could have skipped the F-4s entirely and done the Kyoto arc with Fubukis and Shiranuis if they really wanted to.

Fubuki in particular is as is such a waste of time the thing literally only has one sprite in the game.
>>
>>13815005
Those are Super Hornets.

LD9 later introduces an actual variant for the Garuda Test Flight's modified Hornets. They take the first round against Argos in the Blue Flag exercises.

TE Rising has a modified Hornet variant introduced for the Australians as well.

I suppose the easiest way to explain this is that their appearance was retconned in, but at the same time, not really, they've been stated to use nonstandard Hornet variants ever since TE's Tech Gian days. They just didn't have a picture of them until recently.

>>13814974
Picasso Shiranui is not the typical rank-and-file Shiranui. I wanted to see normal Shiranui in there too. Was that too much?

>Zuikakus that don't exist
The fuck? The Zuikaku also had grey. What did Iwaya pilot during his test against Eagles in 1986 then, a cardboard box?

>expecting obsolete shit in places that don't make sense
Yeah cause a couple of Zuikaku of the, I don't know, IRG maybe, yeah, would be out of place in the capital, and the MiG-23/-27/-29 was totally not the cheap cheerful shit dispersed all over the Soviet military while they were busy trying to build more Sufonishit.

>irrelevant 1st gens, including ones that still appeared in the show
I don't think you got the point that a still pan-over that looked like they used whiteboard markers to line over the TSFs in both the original airtime AND in the BD was not the salve I was looking for.

>Berkut
Let's not make excuses here, with all the filler spaces in the episode listing they could have fitted in TSFIA #30's material into the last episode as an epilogue of sorts if they wanted to.

> first major Zuikaku appearance
Yeah, so where is the other most numerous variant apart from the whites, yellows, and reds? They're in the goddamn capital, the staging base of the IRG. I'm not asking for major screentime, but just secondary appearances. Is that so hard to understand?
>>
>>13815182
MiG-23s are not front line units in Soviet forces by 2001. If anything you'd see MiG-29s, which I don't know, you did?
>>
>>13814974
>1C appeared as anything but...
I don't even follow you anymore. A repaint of what? The A3, the sole product that came out back in 2008? People were having minor bitching about blue Type-00's kit release because it's the only way they could get an EML-99X for only their 1/144 Koto kits. Anyone repainting a -94 into 1c colors can only replicate the 1c model otherwise.

>yellow Type-82F, Type-98XR, and crappy orange Vipers
Yellow was anticipated ever since yellow -00, they could have mentioned it in an LD and everyone would know it exists. Same with -98XR, it's visually identical to the -00. They only did it for the F-16s because they had the models lying around, same for the F-4s replacing the Mirage 2000, the conveniently decided to showcase it a variant.

See I can downplay your views too.

I mean I'm just harping on TE like an asshole for stuff that's already been repeated to death both in previous posts all the way back since it aired, some for and against posts I even made myself, and to my long-suffering friend whom I just had yet another talk about TE's run and SM's potential falling into the "terrible adaptation" hole not even 2 fucking hours before I posted, but I don't even know how you manage to set up your post to completely overshoot my points, overgeneralize them, and then choosing to go so far over them you could join up with the HSST fleet in orbit.

You finally see the point I'm trying to make now? Eagle 3D models also existed to easily convert into the F-15J, so whatever reason they had even when when they had all these resources lying around, only they would know.

I'm not even complaining about the scant cameo of the F-14, but how the decisions to use certain 3D models and skip on others was a rolling combo of unfinished design work during its airtime, cut corners, and all-around don't-give-a-fuck, because I can't disagree that it's not TE's focus at the end of the day without just lying to myself.

>>13815193
Dude IW outright says that the MiG-23/-27 family constitutes 40% of the Soviet inventory as of 2001. That leaves the other 60% to be shared amongst the Su-27/-37/-47 (-47 being an infinitesimally small number of them, probably) and the MiG-29. That's somewhere around a third.

Yeah, we saw -29s too. Now that you mentioned it, parked in an Alaskan base, as rear as rear gets. To be fair, they later appeared on the frontlines finally, but only age knows why -29s are so prominent in the final part when Su-27s are supposed to carry a fair bit of the work in front fighting.

It would be nice to see the MiGs done, even in the shitty background style they did with the TSFs that were supposed to make moving models of in a perfect world where "adaptation" wasn't industry slang for "here's some peanuts, now make me a full-length anime", but since they relegated the secondaries to cameos, the cameos naturally get bumped a step further down and get nothing.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot myself. Adaptation. Shave off, not value-add. Well, VG did narrate the crash of a -23/-27, so I suppose I'll just concede this point.

It's not like F-15Js ever show up anywhere but the one Chronicles that goes out of its way to feature it. They are used very little.

There are pretty clear creative reasons why you would go with F-4J spam though. 1) to make a clear distinction between the earlier time period and current day by using almost exclusively old style TSFs, 2) because having the protagonists flying boxy fuck Zuikakus while heroic looking Shiranuis get killed en masse would be very strange looking. If you put MP Shiranuis in there it requires a lot more explanation for the audience to understand what the fuck Argos is doing.

The MiG-29s are used heavily because MiGs are much more heavily exported and the primary aircraft of countries like say, East Germany.

Also could you either stop watching anime or stop being a whiny cunt?

You aren't making this easier.

The one Chron that features it heavily is a tongue-in-cheek work as of itself where the MVP are Saint Seiya by any other name. Its actual appearance not involved with for-fun works or as recolored UN gear are a single cameo in MLA and in TDA 01 and 02 as flashbacks. However its IW intro makes it clear that the IJA colors and loadout do have a presence in the IJA military, enough that they can throw F-15Js into the cheorwon Hive even in 2003 rather than using stock Shiranui or spare F-4s.

Spam doesn't mean that they need to entirely cut out the other variants. This is what I have been saying since fucking forever. The entire point of the two episodes was to show how fucked they were and it doesn't help you if you were special or not or had a special unit or not. But apparently all-or-nothing is a staple of throwaway anime and they assume the viewers can't infer.

Funny you say that about the MiGs because you tell me MiG-29s are seen but then they're all export. There is only one export MiG in TE and those are the OVTs which are semi-developed by East Germany in partnership with the Western bloc nations. Not counting the ones used by Russians at Yukon Base and were jacked by the RLF as drone fighters, not counting the ones turning up during the Evensk fight, the two places where MiGs are prominent because the first is in an urban setup where the MiG-29 had proved itself socking insurgents during the 1990s and the second because fuck if I know, where did all the frontline Sukhois go? Again, there is supposed to be a mix of the two represented. Nothing to do with export MiGs, dude, what the hell are you prattling on about?

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you wanted a discussion of what TE did wrong and a points exchange on what might have been done right, not blind vindication. Just don't respond to this post, then.

>>13815031
>...literally only has one sprite in the -> game <-.

>>13815294
>It's not like F-15Js ever show up anywhere but the -> one Chronicles <- that...

And for "Isumi sidestory" in response to "The one Chron", Akira was in an F-4J (MLA), Michiru trained in an F-4J (Confessions), Akira later turns up in TSFiA, not a game, with an F-15J, and any mention of the Isumi younger sisters then shifts to Type-04s, also in TSFIA. F-15J's feature is in Ayu-Mayu.

You keep mentioning F-15Js with regards to the games, all I've been saying is that with its level of exposure in the -> settings <-, a -> good adaptation <- of TE would have thrown in appearances because apparently they have no issues recoloring sprites and there were perfectly good F-15 ones lying about. Applies to everything I've been saying, really, in case you were too busy seeing red to notice.

I don't know, you tell me why when the follow-up in >>13814977 immediately jumps to the games. Are you even the same anon?

There is a single TSF using a main color that is in any way related to "black" and that is Wilfried's EF-2000, which does not pertain to this matter at all. They could probably do it with the jump boosters-equipped armored exoskeletons of that time if not for their operational range probably being really short even compared to TSFs.

Or the danger of being massed by even Warrior-classes, even.

They're the smallest regularly used. How often do we even see warriors? Infantry only slow them down for a short while, which isn't enough to make throwing thousands of lives away worth it.

>>
>>13821194

Well, probably not apart immediately, but the despair is still there since just one Warrior on your foot will slow you down, enough that others will jump up to grab on and eventually you'll fall to the ground in a Warrior katamari of alien vicegrip fingers who'd grip you all over, breaking bones and crushing ribs even as they make you feel extremely sodomized, and pull you from the embrace of your now being-torn-apart exoskeleton and proceed to quarter you alive by tearing you apart faster than ancient Chinese execution techniques. The new Death by Tanks, basically.

Although, getting slapped out of the air by a passing Tank, that'll probably take you apart instantly. Or maybe not, but the impact of either the slapping or the landing might.

I actually wonder what the likelihood is of the Schwarzesmarken novels getting licensed.

How many hours does the VN last?
>>
>>13826222
According to them, it depends on reception of the demo.
>>
>>13826222
They gave a reply in the comments, it may be included in the survey.
>>

>>13826232
I said novels, not VN. Because VN stupidly decides it's okay to cut everything that isn't from Theo's PoV.

Does Iris overtake Yui?

Or does Yui still hold the top spot of "Most-Likely-To-Be-Waifu" in muv luv?

Do Japs actually tune into a television station to watch Schwarz?

Is West Berlin still populated?
>>
>>13826517
Yes, it was pretty lively when Theo, Iris, & Katia took a trip there.

Well, that's cool for Teito Moyu, that's most probably the best ( Or at least interesting ) part of TE.

Good for SM too, even if we will only have the demo yet, I have hope we will get the full VN, and maybe even the LN translated one day.

Would have liked the Chronicles or TSFiA as well but guess it will take another KS surplus.

So why does the "free" nation of West Germany not tell their citizens that the Beta are withing line-of-sight of Berlin?

West Berlin is surrounded by East Germany.

Even if an evacuation of West Berlin was ordered, it couldn't be done without East Germany's approval.

No anon it's SCHWARZES DEMO
>>
>>13823207
>>13823342
Well, I've read a little of the LN.

I usually pop in here to talk about TSFs, politics, or tactics, and hop over on /a/ to discuss characters and the like. Since it's usually the characters the anime messes up, it's usually what gets whined about. Also, /m/ is a little smarter than /a/, so they already know the score on this anime as an adaptation (I think on it's own it's actually really good, better than TE even with the obvious budget constraints). Different board culture, you know.

Which is weird because the second half of Alternative and TE give about zero fucks about first person immersion.

I swear the main character of TE might even be a random guy standing in Soviet command rooms.

There are more than one translator working on Muv-Luv and Alternative. Have you not followed the news or just an idiot?

She calls herself unclean and talks about executing people as dirty business. Even in the VO samples, if you click on her hands, she refers to them as being drenched in blood before asking if you still want to shake/hold them.
