I actually brought up the lack of sales of gunpla in my local B&N once, mentioning that having the instructions in the case to display that you don't need knowledge of Japanese to build them might help from scaring off would be buyers.
Apparently those Gunpla are pre-built display models they get from the distributor

If my boss told me I had to display these overpriced little toys that you have to build yourself (that is what they look like to the uninitiated) and I didn't care about them at all I would just do the more boring or most goofy thing I could think of with them.
