The Japanese transformer productions are basically Brave shows as well. I'm not only referring to CarRobots and the Unicorn Trilogy, but also Masterforce and Victory.
From Takara's perspective, Brave was supposed to replace the dying Transformers franchise in the early 90s. When Braves died down in the late 90s, they brought back Transformers to replace Braves.
I think Braves did the human aspect better though. Kids in Transformers are just...annoying.

I think about a month after the last episode he mentioned once on his Twitter that he intends to continue it. But that was almost 3 months ago, and no other signs that this project is still alive (last time I checked CS's Twitter he was deep into Undertale, though it was some time ago), so I pretty much lost hope too.
Though DESU I didn't particularly liked the idea to sub Dagwon from the first episode, instead of just start from the point where the previous group dropped off - I think that's one of the main reasons why 2/3 of Dendoh is still crabstick only: half of the time someone picks it up, they start from the first episode which was already subbed by several different groups, then drop off before they manage to get to the part that actually needs subs. We need someone who will just do the Dagwon episodes that don't have subs yet (and the OVA for completion's sake).

What does it mean?
I'm torn, because I think Might Gaine is a pretty cool looking robot, but he doesn't have much going on personality wise. But while he and his weapons are cool, Battle Bomber and Guard Diver are ugly AND boring. I kind of don't like that there isn't a plot until the ending, but at least one gets together.
But with J-Decker, I think he and his design are kind of boring, but he still has more personality than Gaine. I fucking love J-Decker's supporting cast though. I really love the theme of Super AI. I just kind of wish that the story had more of a crime syndicate thing going on.
Oh well, Da Garn is probably my favorite so far.

It's funny that of all the entries Takamatsu directly directed, Goldran, the most comedic of all, is the one trying to get a running plot in the second half. The guy had a hard time working around Takara's limitations, that much is evident.

I like Gaine's episodic format with the multiple villains though. Especially the stories from the middle and late 10s sometimes are really good. Some of them were really surprising to me in a Brave show, likethe little clone kid being killed.And, yes, it also ties together a plot for the final arc.

If you had to rank the Braves Series shows from best to worst how would you rank them and why?

1) Brave Police: character development. Not just from the Braves, but all the characters.
2) GaoGaiGar: because it's epic and I love how tense it is all the way through (also the Braves are under-appreciated)
3) Goldran: so far, even though I haven't finished it, because it's funny and cute.
4) Dagwon: even though I've seen so little, because it's so aesthetic to me. Also, GR10 SOUNDTRACK.
5) Exkaiser: I've seen almost none of it. But the Raker twins are adorable.
6) Might Gaine: I think the mechs are pretty? But I've only seen two episodes.

GGG is no exception here, Mamoru wears similar jacket too. If anything, it's Yuuta who stands out bc the jacket is different.
What's more interesting for me, in all cases (except Yuuta as mentioned above) it's some variation of a red jacket that's suspiciously similar to the one worn by protagonist of Pokemon first generation games. Pokemon Red/Green were in development when Braves aired (I think the games were released when Dagwon was airing). So, it looks like someone in Game Freak is a Brave fan?

Nah. For the brave series and many other Sunrise works, the rights are with Sunrise. Takara only had an exclusive merchandising license for X years by funding the show.
Banpresto used to to avoid works sponsored by Bandai's rivals out of courtesy but Terada "tested" the system with Jeeg and GGG, both Takara-sponsored shows.
It's probably just a case of popularity. A more recent and extreme example is TTGL. It was sponsored by Konami (they made toys back then). Rumor is that TTGL's producer called Terada up once Konami's exclusive license expired.

As for the Sonic OVA, I don't think it was even released on DVD in Japan. I once tried to find the original Japanese cut in the net, but without success (though maybe I didn't searched deep enough?). Anyway, as for the physical release, finding the original Japanese VHS (or whatever format it was originally released) seems the only way.

It seems like he's done a decent amount of stuff over the years, but none of it really got as much exposure as Teyandee. Going by what he draws and says on his blog Teyandee seems to be one of his favorites, anyway. I'm pretty sure I read a comment on his old guestbook saying that he wasn't that fond of Eto Ranger, but I don't know much about his thoughts on other things he's done. Like the aforementioned Idol Project, or Jaja Uma Quartet/Wild Cardz.

Though he's easily the most immature and naughty of Brave kids (at least of the shows I've seen), he's basically a human version of Blinky Bill at times. For some people it's refreshing, but I can understand that some people might dislike him. That, and the show focuses on him instead of the robots even more than in Exkaiser or Fighbird.

I always saw Yatabe as a guy who cared more about humans than robots. More balanced focus didn't get established until J-Decker, by the time Takamatsu succeeded him.
That said, KouAidou (who translated the scripts) did genuinely love Seiji as a character, according to her now-inactive blog.

imo weakest brave show compared to others. here are some negatives.
- most stock animation used, more than fighbird. copy and pasted stock animation from the OP in the final fight. (honestly i didnt mind it. im a guy who loved every second of fighbird's stock animation recycling.)
- literally monster of the weak every episode. it has nothing special going on.
- Weakest ending.
- is the most geared towards a really young age demographic.
- not really memorable characters compared to all the other series
imo the weakest brave title in the series. after all it was the first title and they did better with the future titles using what they learned from it.

Keep in mind that Dagwon is not really indicative of the rest of the Brave Series, each series has it's own themes but both Dagwon and GaoGaiGar tweak the formula a bit (in GaoGaiGar's case, it deviates a lot from the standard).
But as a tokufag you'll feel more like home with Dagwon, the reason, well it's quite self-evident...
