I have to agree. The Victory doesn't rely on any kind of silly specific design motif like almost every other Gundam, and isn't a mere rehash of the RX-78-2 like many other leads. The colors are also very well-utilized and somewhat militaristic, not at all looking like a clown show. The overall design is very basic and clean, but it's unique enough to stand out on its own without going over the top (i.e Turn A). There are also no silly backpacks, and the dash pack is what every Gundam bacpack should aspire to be, not another Freedom or Dendrobium overcompensated waste of space.
Not to mention how much of a beast it is in the show with all its limb-swapping kills.

And even then, the fact that it can detach with the Core fighter, Hanger, and Arms probably wasn't intended to be used as part of combat. Uso and the League Militaire pilots were either very desperate or just very clever with tactics that they used the separability as a fighting tactic or weapons. I think the characters and especially how they fight is often overlooked in Victory because people don't pay it enough attention
