No. It's to give dying animation studios more time to create the second half of the shows because their staff wouldn't be able to handle it as one continuous show.

>dying animation studios

Are you serious?
>>
>>13756585
I guess dying is too strong a word, but it is to ease burden on the staff making the show since most are probably working ridiculous hours as it is even when the studio is only trying to get out one anime in a particular season since they'll also have some of that staff working at least partially on other projects that months down the line from the current main project.
>>
>>13756598
Sure explains why popular stuff like JJBA and Assassination Classroom get breaks (Toei and Pierrot, on the other hand, are too traditionalist to wise up on this).
>>
>>13756598
Well, to be fair anime in its current form is dying. It can't continue like this, at least not forever. The model that ties "success" to discs sales is killing studios.
>>
>>13756622
Doesn't help that the industry doesn't have enough animators, as people don't want to become an animator nowadays (for obvious reasons).
>>
>>13756632
And you can add overpriced BD/DVD there too. It's like the industry wants to self-destruct.
>>
>>13756809
>every studio goes bankrupt
>they assume that it's because the otakus don't care anymore, so no one ever does animation in Japan again
That would be horrifying.
>>
>>13756868
Well, you can already see the signs. I don't believe that the industry will collapse any time soon, but I do think that its current model is doomed to destroy it.
>>
>>13756960
Has Netflix invaded Japan yet?
>>
>>13756960
It doesn't help that their video game market is steadily collapsing too. At least the CG artists for that will have to migrate elsewhere.
>>
>>13756585
Currently they are short changed for staff so this is where the anime is dying meme you see from old time creators are coming from.
>>
>>13756968

Started up last September according to Google, but still has a fairly small catalog due to rights issues with various properties in Japan. The article I saw mentioned they had been doing a fair bit of hype building in the run up, but I've no idea what that looked like on the ground or how successful it's been in the few months since obviously.
>>
>>13756960
Is your name Micheal Patcher? Because your predictions are just as awful

Joking aside, the anime industry has been dying since birth.
>>
>>13757040
Well, I'm not talking about "It will die in 2016!" I'm just saying that its current model it's unsustainable, and that is a fact.

>>13757021
The latest news on Neflix is that it went global, that it will start to enforce its region locking and prevent the use of proxy to skip it.
>>
>>13757060
>Well, I'm not talking about "It will die in 2016!" I'm just saying that its current model it's unsustainable, and that is a fact.
It's been like that for a while now and there are no signs of changing. Kinda sad too, once that bubble bursts a lot of studios will shut down/die off.
>>
>>13757094
It won't. If I've learned something in all this years watching anime, is that the suits won't notice the catastrophe until they can't avoid it (like in the early 1990's) so a scenario like this one >>13756868 seems pretty likely.
>>
>>13757094

Not him, but animation is becoming a less sustainable career and fewer people are taking it up because of it, with a large percentage that do dropping away because of the awful pay and conditions, which has been happening for the past 15/20 years. Home media is being phased out in favor of streaming and downloadable content. Japan could conceivably try to price match that content to DVDs and blurays, but with outsiders like Netflix and Hulu stepping in to the ring with domestic ones that's unlikely to be sustainable. Anime companies have also started looking towards foreign markets due to a shrinking domestic market in the last handful of years, with simultaneous airing on international markets (or close to it anyways) being a thing that has started happening due to this.

The slide has been happening with a good while, but to say there are no signs it's changing isn't really accurate.
>>
>>13756868
Well, you mean late night anime. There's still stuff that isn't meant to sell disc. Pretty much none of that stuff airing currently is /m/ related though.
>>
>>13757116
That is true
>>
>>13757142
Perhaps the issue is how slow they are to react, and how they seem to be very wary of taking risks.
>>
>>13757152

Well that's true of any entrenched business really. It happened in the West too, with Netflix having to compete against major television networks as a fledgling company and winning because the service and prices were better compared to the standard networks were offering. Which had a knock on effect with physical media of all kinds, and now most games and movies can be bought online for a fraction of the cost if you look in the right place, even if only as digital content and not physical.
>>
Things for animators are so bad, they are trying to crowd fund dorms for them to live in. And of course the campaign is failing badly.

And that guyver-like firefighter suit was calculated to be even stronger than the willwear of Oscar II (Strike Interceptor).
A firefighter suit is stronger than a police enforcement battle suit meant to fight guys in power armor.
Although I guess that if Strike Interceptor went into black mode, it would probably pulverize the firefighter version, just like Oscar VI (Fine Familia) punched him through a reinforced concrete building when she went black mode.
>>
>>13759258

how come her willwear didn't purge when she did that?

I thought the other one purged when he did the supermove last ep, thats why she had to deploy the tent right?
>>
>>13759336
The purging had to do with low battery (I dunno, maybe you can't breathe in there without power or something) and that's the first thing she told the techie to check rather than getting rid of all the popups.
>>
>>13759336
Fine Familia was fully charged, and thus could still function after unleashing the limit break. Also, apparently, it's the newest kind of willwear, so its power usage is probably a lot more efficient than that of Oscar I and II.
Elf Sigma had to fight a prolonged battle and use its beam cannon a lot, depleting its energy reserves quickly.
Strike Interceptor was only charged to 43 percent or less before it was deployed. Also, it has a flight mode, so its energy usage must be really high.
>>
So far, the three Oscars have the following roles.
Oscar 1 (Elf Sigma) is a sniper support unit, not really meant to go toe to toe with the target.
Oscar 2 (Strike Interceptor) is a tracking and pursuit unit with a flight mode, meant to hunt down the target.
Oscar 6 (Fine Familia) seems to be the main battle unit. Very likely to be a good all rounder.
From the description on the website, Haruka's willwear will be specialized for cyber-warfare. Probably meant to disable complex machinery and shutting down enemy combatant willwear.

We'll see what the other two Oscars will be about. One will probably be all about pure strength.
>>
>>13759379
I think all of the Oscars' can be battle oriented, just that 1 and 2 might have energy 6consumption problem. I see Oscar 6 more as a disabling/hacker type.

>>
>>13759258
Not necessarily 'stronger', just a higher number for a certain stat (MTQ, whatever that means). Probably the main deal was that Oscar II can't keep up with the firefighter suit's agility, since they were OK with letting Fine Familia sortie.

Twintails was low budget even by anime standards. It's not quite Dai Shogun or Kill Me Baby tier but still pretty low.
>>

People are too busy tearing IBO to shreds, because that is the popular show this season.

This is just an okay distraction as silly power-suit cops fighting villains every week that appeals to some Tokusatsu/Dai-guard/Patlabor/Bubblegum Crisis tastes.

You could get super-serious and super-cynical about it, but why? It's like going to a circus and getting mad that it isn't a poetry reading.
>>
>>13760047
Dai-Shogun had ostensibly good art but very limited animation. I wonder if the discs improved that.
>>
>>13760343
That won't matter, because it's getting a full CGI 3-D reboot film soon.
>>
>>13759989
How good an anime looks is completely dependent on how well the studio managed their production schedule and time use. Twintails is from the studio running out of time before deadlines and rushing to the finish.

There is a minimum of four suits confirmed.
Elf Sigma, Strike Interceptor, blue-haired bus-fetishist's armor, and rookie lieutenant's Fine Familia.
Since Fine Familia is designated Oscar 6, that means that there ought to be two other ones.
However, there are three guys (plus maintenance dude from the willwear gear association), and three girls (plus police poplar chief).
Maintenance dude probably won't fight, so that means that there are 7 police officers, but only six Oscar. Private Madoka is probably only an operator and won't be out onto the field, leaving probably the section chief to don an armor, and perhaps chief.

On the other hand, perhaps one of them is Oscar 0. Thus, you can then easily have all seven officers on the front line. Would be a shame if that cutie wouldn't be smashing criminal scum in their willwear.

That'd be too perfect, it's never going to happen.
>>
>>13784057
To be fair, if you can successfully lock removal behind a survey wall, it'd work against anyone.

People are fucking lazy. I'm tech savvy myself and I'd rather roll back on a restore point than fill out a survey.
>>
>>13784078
I didn't mean too perfect as in too improbable, I meant it as in it'd legitimately be excellent writing. I know just how lazy we can be about computers.
>>
>>13784090
Well I wouldn't go far as to say it'd be excellent writing, but it would be clever.

But that's the best I can give to how computer security is handled in fiction. It's not like people care to research what would be realistic, just have a bunch of code lines scroll around and poof instant hacking, works every time.
>>
>>13782141
The transition between cuts are weird in this scene
>>
>>13784121
Yeah, the villain injecting uncompiled python is pretty funny, but that's pretty par for the course for fiction. Better just to have them typing hex or binary because it gives extra cool points and is actually more believable than a high-level language.
>>
>>13784004
I'm pretty sure of it at this point. She's being uploaded on EVERYTHING, and is difficult to remove. I'm awaiting an episode where she goes BABEL BABEL BABEL and only the cop who clean her off his computer can do anything.

Based Liko.

Also, she trots like a horse in the ED. It's odd.

The "(You)" response is sorta like a dismissal. Imagine someone fishing for replies or making blatantly inflammatory posts, just reply (You), because that's all they're looking for in the first place.
>>
>>13796163
Yknow, I figured if a learning program can learn how to shitpost, it would in fact make for the best moderator (generating shitposts kinda implies learning what constitutes a shitpost which kinda implies the ability to recognize shitposts from a given pool of posts which should result in the ability to identify report-worthy content.)

It's very interesting stuff, the things you can do when you get a learning algorithm working.

This and Daiguard scratch a particular itch for me. I love it when the machines have to be calibrated and adjusted, plus needing permission and having rules on weapon use makes them feel much more real.

Not a fan of that Faux Newscaster. If they had been broadcasting the whole battle, it would have been obvious that the karaoke was distracting the enemy mech.

If I was a designer and was using those rings as anchor points I'd go with the waist. It's closer to the center of mass and less likely to break the neck.

But this is anime so take that with a grain of salt.
>>
>>13800316
Golden Life feels weird to me, since the chorus felt like Akino was straining her voice all the way. It's still catchy as fuck and fun to listen to, though, don't get me wrong.
>>
>>13800631
I'm not too sure about the newscaster. Was she conscious before Kazari did the song-and-dance routine? She probably jumped to conclusions because she only saw that, but not most of the preceding fight. She didn't know the context, and just saw a police Willwear dancing and the criminal Willwear getting disabled afterwards.

That, or the letter she received beforehand influenced her reporting. She was informed that something that would discredit Unit 8 was going to happen, after all.
>>
Is this Iron-Man:The Anime?
>>
>>13801031
It's "we seriously want to do a Metal Hero show really badly" the animation.

Never before have I seen an anime that made me think it should also be done live action. It's like the reverse of what happened with Garo.
>>
>>13801031
>>13801037
You even have the guy who wrote for an actual live action show about high-tech rescue policemen (not Metal Heroes, but it was a nod to the concept regardless).
>>
>>13801037
I actually like this more in animated form. Those character quirks are cringy in live action.
>>
>>13802741
Maybe that's part of why I have had a little trouble getting into Toku. Silly stuff works better in anime, most of the time.
>>
>>13801037

The glorious property destruction would be so much harder to pull of convincingly in a live-action series though.

The way it works as an anime is just fine.
>>
>>13801031
It's Daiguard, Patlabor, mixed with this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy4YFDSDW4w

I know people say Metal Heroes, but the only similarity is power armor policemen. There is a distinct lack of alien demon crimelords, fighting in alternate drug fueled dimensions, monsters, and flaming beam swords in Active Raid.
