This, but also keep in mind that it gets kind of silly during the middle because of failing ratings. It goes back to something close to the original dark/dramatic tone by the end, though.
It's basically a (completely intentional) loose remake/adaptation of Kikaider.
Metalder is great. Enormous shame what Saban did with him slicing his story to create VR Troopers.
