Most mecha series share similar tropes but they sure as hell don't branch out the same way.

Festum are constantly forced to renew their bodies. That's what made them so bad at surviving in water for a long time. If you want an in show example of this happening, go watch HaE where than Sphinx type saves itself from dying by renewing itself as a Eurus type.
Festum/Human hybrids when they push their bodies past their limit end up renewing themselves by becoming babies, however it isn't a 1/1 process because humans don't work that way, so it's more like just a reboot of the Festum/Human hybrid.
Soushi 1.0 is dead.
Soushi 2.0 is a renewed existence that has Soushi 1.0 as the framework.
It's why everyone doesn't just Festum/Human hybrid it up, because it means you'll never truly die unless you get eaten by another Festum or Mir. Soushi and Kazuki are gonna be rebooted whenever they push themselves to their limits and have to fight forever and forever.
