Since it's juggling such a large cast and actually tries to give everyone a little screentime and interaction each week, it may seem like it's all just inching along, but I really do enjoy the cast interactions and it's become the main reason to watch the show.

But if you look at Mika and Orga as the MCs and everyone else being more or less there to serve the plot and their development, I'd feel confident saying that they're well developed a have depth.

That MATILDA-SAN was just how Amuro expressed his pain for her death. And people could understand his pain because we saw him having a crush on her and working hard in order to be noticed by her.
And we have also seen other people from the White Base interact with her (the photo).
Matilda didn't just appear out of nowhere to die ten minutes later.
And she also highlighted a lot of Amuro's development. For example when Amuro meets Woody we see he feels like somehow it is partly his fault if she died and we see him taking his role as Gundam pilot way more seriously after her death.

Overall it was going good than previous episodes until that retarded post-Kiss shock scene.
This show is trying to hard to show "bonds of family " them, while we are given foreshadowing of political wanking that will happen later, which has on slowburner since ep 1.
With 13 episodes,we have reached halfway and dosen't feel something big has happened which affect the overall big picutre, since drama with badly drawn mecha battles has been going on.
With 12/13 eps left, It is now obvious that it will end with a cliffhanger.
