His has a pair of twin son and daughter, the son who somehow defected to become a Crossbone Vanguard ace, while her daughter is the pilot of the F90II.
The protagonist tries to reconcile with his son on the battlefield in a Prototype Javelin and is killed by his son in the process, with her daughter being a witness. His son somehow turns back in to the light side afterwards. There is a also a Crossbone Vanguard Death Star in the mix.

Depending on how you interpret her limited screentime, she was either trying to cover her own ass or, more likely, she was trying to shield Finn from criticism by defending his actions as a first offence. If she was to stay a villain she certainly wasn't portrayed as such. It is likely Phasma was not a fanatic but is instead a mercenary hired to lead troopers, as she has a name and isn't trained in the organisation.
Phasma will become another traitor and fight along side Finn.
The other question is why does the Empire not have any non-humans as they can't wear the helmets?
