Who's hype?
No its not exactly breaking news anymore, but still.
>>
If I remember correctly the JP BD wasn't that high quality compared to BDs of 0079 or Turn A. Will the english one be the same or newly encoded?
>>
whens the greco blurays coming out?
>>
>>13654532
>Rosamia on a disc
Please, don't remind me.

>>13654617
First half of 2016 for UK.
Spring 2016 for USA.
>>
how does this compare to the old release?
>>
>>13654593
>>13654891

I doubt it'll be a new transfer, however it'll be a much smoother, slightly crisper edged release than the old DVD's i bet.
>>
>>13654532
Where do you get it? When does pre-order go up?
>>
>>13656456
It'll be a while i bet, keep checking RightStuf's site

God that cover is awful

The old US DVD Complete Collection I was one of my favorite pieces of Gundam art ever, and this is just bland as fuck
>>
>>13656534
That really doesn't look much better at all, lad.
>>
>>13656540
It's bland in a more interesting way, as opposed to "bad plastic-y Kitazamune(?) art on white background"
>>
>>13656544
The DVD cover looks more plastic-y and clean to me. Trying way too hard to appeal to Americans
>>
>>13656549
It looks digital compared to the traditional film of the series. So does the new one though
>>
>>13656534
Honestly it looks great compared to the overly busy DVD cover and the recent MSG BD covers we had.

0079 BDs did too, but they had great art

I just found this.
You can already pre order.
>>
>>13656448
Not likely if we go by MSG's release.
>>
>tfw a whole new generation of shitposting will be wrought upon the world.

ZZ BD can't here soon enough.
>>
Will it even have the dub?
>>
>>13656952
It's a Right Stuf release, so of course it will.
>>
>>13656966
If so, count me in.

Zeta Gundam's dub remains one of the few I truly like and have no problems with.

I like the dub too, even if it alway gets shit on.

I don't see it having the original OP's, which kinda sucks but then again i haven't heard anything to fully prove whether or not it will.
I don't mind the US OP anyway, Saegusa's score was incredible.
>>
>>13656989
The US OP is one of my favorite Gundam-related songs. Something about those drums and horns just got my blood going. I don't dislike Sign of Zeta, but it doesn't have that same effect on me.
>>
>>13656600
>cover art is a scene that doesn't even take place in that portion of the show
>>
>>13657699
That's my big gripe.
And the MS' being based on redesigns.

Granted Japan got the same covers. So they were screwed too.
>>
>>13657684
I agree completely. The Jap version has a nice song, but the lack of sound effects for the MSes makes it feel so lifeless.
The english version on the other hand seems triumphant and inspiring.
>>
Wait, is that Rosamia on the disc art? it's been a long time since I last watched Zeta, but does she even show up in the first half or whatever this Part 1 set covers?
>>
>>13657814

She shows up not long after they get to Earth and then disappears for a long while.
>>
>>13657814
>>13657844

Episode 14: Amuro Flies Again

She's noticeably not retarded and flying around a Gaplant.
>>
>>13657869

Yeah, I think they offhandedly mention that she was away getting "adjusted" at Augusta or something when she finally does show up again.
>>
>>13656989
it won't have the JP op because Neil Sedaka's estate is demanding a large sum of money for licensing
>>
>>13657893
Again, we don't actually know this for certain.
The most we do know is that Sunrise licensed the song arrangements for Japan only. The expense of changing that, or the trouble of doing so, could be the main reason why the OPs get changed.
>>
>>13657920
For all we know it's not even that expensive and Bandai USA just didn't want to take ANY financial risks with the OPs.
Or maybe they just thought kids wouldn't dig them.
>>
>>13654532
Good thing they release the canon TV Series and not that mess ANT.
>>
>>13658602
ANT certainly could've been worse, but i definitely prefer the series
>>
>>13657920
>>13657948

The original license was for the score to be used in Japan, never in the U.S. When you try to add something after the fact to an already existing contract you naturally embed within it higher minimum guarantees and royalty fees because hey, you were stupid and didn't ask for them the first time (thank you america for encouraging your lawyers to ALWAYS do this)
>>
>>13659443
This is also the reason why obscure PS2 games will never be re-released.

They were licensed for the Playstation 2 only. Copyright is bullshit, which is why I pirate.
>>
>>13654532
>Rosamia

Does she even appear soon enough for her to make sense on the part 1 disc art?
>>
>>13659492
See
>>13657844
>>13657869
>>
>>13656844
Great! Thanks!
>>
>>13656989
the two op and ed songs are legally blocked from being on the us discs due to the writer not wanting them released in the us. Sunrise only has rights to the melodies in asia. The melodies of the TV series' two opening themes and sole ending theme were written by American pop singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka. "Zeta - Toki wo Koete" was based upon the song "Better Days are Coming" from Sedaka's 1972 album Solitaire, while "Hoshizora no Believe" was adapted from the song "Bad and Beautiful" from the 1976 album Steppin' Out. Additionally, "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" was derived from an unreleased song entitled "For Us to Decide".
>>
>>13661087
In 1985, songs composed by Sedaka were adapted for the Japanese anime TV series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. These included the two opening themes "Zeta-Toki wo Koete" (originally in English as "Better Days Are Coming") and "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" (originally in English as "For Us to Decide", but the English version was never recorded), as well as the end theme "Hoshizora no Believe" (written as "Bad and Beautiful"). Due to copyright restrictions, the songs were replaced for the North American DVD.
>>
>>13661087
>>13661094
What we don't know is if anything on that front has changed since
>>
>>13661140
Unlikely.
>>
>>13661158
Yes it certainly is unlikely
