The series was really weird about how Lelouch felt about Shirley. It's not like he disliked her, but even towards the end it felt like he only loved her the way a normal person loves their sister. Did he let her kiss him because he felt guilty about her dad? Why did Lelouch feel so guilty about his ninja dating all the girls in school? It's not like Shirley was actually his girlfriend, was she? It's hard to tell if they were actually dating before his revolutionary thing (which was probably done on purpose so that Kallen and C2 could get in on the harem game without Lelouch seeming like a bad guy).
