I didn't need to feel that feel, yet I did. The story is pretty much 'dying cancer patients, but robots' and it's not anything special, but I'm glad they didn't cop out at the end.

Exactly why this isn't really /m/ to me. Barely any of the societal ramifications of these crazy complicated mechs are explored. Nobody questions the 'feelings' these robots have or if they're just soulless robots. Nobody questions this system, or why after decades of these things existing, how they haven't managed to extend the lifespan of one of these robits. Hell we don't even get to see the inner workings of these things ever. There's nothing /m/ about this show. It's just a shallow excuse to exploit the feels associated with terminal illnesses without having to actually show any of the gritty and dirty parts associated with actually having a disease that kills you.
So is this any good? I skipped it because it looked like Mahoromatic.

The cancer plot was just there to fool the media watchdogs.
That's why the setting was never explored and brought to any afterthought and conclusion.

Producers were like "make it SoL and more sentimental with the Loli robot dying from cancer of expiry date. No one is gonna buy bladerunner : the anime".
And it worked to an extent. Everyone forgot so many interesting thing could had been explored in the setting while shed tear for obvious ending because "muh feelz".
