The plot was boring.
And even when it got moderately better towards the end, it was still just Zeta light.
ZZ's biggest crime is being utterly forgettable.

Oh if it's just that then okay Imma definitely watch G Reco. It's not as much awkward as it's...different. At first Turn A caught me off guard back in the day for its different styling. But you learn to appreciate it. You gotta give credit to Tomino here because really if you look at it, you have all the other non-Tomino series from the last few years tryna cop what he did in the 80s. But Tomino himself is past that; he's already done that kinda stuff. Despite being the guy who basically invented all the cliche Gundam stuff he's also now the one trying the most different things with Gundam. Turn A was more "out there" than even G Gundam and that one was totally super robot giving up entirely the real robot aspect of Gundam, and it sounds like G Reco's the same.

It's...okay. I found the cast to be more likeable than G-Reco but I suppose you've got 50 episodes to flesh them out more than you did with G-Reco. Gavane was a cool dude, both Harry Ord and Gym were high points for the show. The fights weren't anything special to be honest, they were kinda bland overall.
Is G-Reco ultimately mediocre? Yes, it is. Could it have benefited from more episodes? Definitely.
