Why don't /m/ characters never look their age?

With that said, let's give some of them the age you think they deserve.

I'll start, Tsurugi Tetsuya. They say he's only two years older than Kouji, making him 18 years old.

But he looks 30-40 to me.

Don't you know anything about how Japanese aging works?

40? Tsurugi is 27 or 28 max.

I have no idea how you got three serious replies with this bait

this isn't really an /m/ thing exclusively

If he was caucasian, that would make sense, but he's asian, and he looks old.
>>
>>13609651

That seems about right honestly.

I always pegged Testuya and Jun as in their mid 20's or so. The toei show's artsyle makes him look older than he does in Mazinkaiser and his other appearances.

Pic unrelated, just wanted and excuse to post it.

Additionally, I'll never get over how Bright is only 19 in MSG

Why is that so hard to believe? He was only an ensign, the reason he was in charge of the ship is because everyone above him in command had died.
>>
>>13609873
Because he didn't look 19.

I thought Mirai was supposed to be a frumpy housewife.
>>
>>13609916
he also doesn't look very different in msg into zz

He looks about that age, really.

He looked 19, he just actually took the responsibility he needed to take, which is highly unusual for anybody under 25 in anime.
>>
>>13612438
Not that anon, but I still find it funny that Bright was a butterbar at 19.
That means he entered the officers' academy right out of primary school.
>>
>>13612446
He might have gotten fast-tracked thanks to OYW promotion rules. What're the usual requirements for being ensign? I thought that was the first rank for everyone in the navy.
>>
>>13612446
People tend to get through training a lot quicker in war time.
>>
>>13612454
An ensign is the lowest officer rank. You automatically get it after graduating from military academy. If you're looking for the lowest rank in a navy, ever, you're talking about seaman recruit.

>>13612456
Would it be justifiable to fast-track military academy schooling, even in a war time setting though? If it was officer candidate school I could accept it; the people who go through OCS are basically veteran NCOs who don't need a lot of education because of their experience, as compared to academy cadets who haven't seen a frontline in their lives.
>>
>>13612465
It's likely he'd be a year or two into the school by that point, and keep in mind that like, 2/3rds of humanity had been killed so far in the war, including the vast majority of the EF's military.

Also, there hadn't been a war in recent history for the EF, right? There's no frontline for anybody to have seen.
>>
>>13612470
Good point.
Though I guess what I meant to say by 'frontline' is boots-on-the-ground work for an NCO. officer CADETS tend to be stuck in the sheltered confines of the academy while officer CANDIDATES were NCOs who have handled field work before entering OCS, like being senior petty officers aboard ships or military bases.
>>
>>13609651

Actually he is supposed to be 28/29. Kai is in his mid 30s but he looks like it is 10 years older
>>
>>13612465

In case giving the Gundam to a 15 years old boy didn't clue you in, Federation was in dire need of personnel.
>>
>>13612718
To be fair, the federation wanted to put someone else in it, he was just kind of there. Didn't they try and take him out of it in Jaburo or Dublin or something?
>>
>>13609687
I bet you think all Asian men look like Justin Bieber or Korean pop idols. Back to the bar with you, you country bumpkin.

They all look like Jackie Chan to me.
