Native God skill ignores all terrain penalties, Lord Mishaguchi spellcard has a armour breaker effect on it and if you equip Curse God PS all her other attacks also have a -10% hit and evade debuff. Earth God PS doubles all terrain bonuses, Moriya God PS lets her borrow all of Sanae's Faith gauge boosts and also boost it herself and Ancient Jade PS turns Focus into Focus+ which affects both members of a Twin, she also learns Triumph later so she can be a free spirit bank whilst hanging in the back.
Basically Suwako has a shitload of options, she is really good in the back.

Aya not getting auto leveled isn't too bad since she has a lot of uses during the SA arc where speed can be of the essence when going for WP points. The real shame about her is despite all the buffs they gave her in 3 is that she is still in want of a better finisher.

They are, so the best supers are the ones that have other methods of surviving. Forte Gigas has a fuckton of HP, decent dodge, a double image ability and possibly 2 pilots (depending on whether you recruit Glacies/Ventus or not) with tons of SP and a spirit set meant for main pilots, meaning you get a lot of Valor casts. Shin Getter is pretty good too since it has 3 pilots, and if you focus on it, Godmars gets pretty dodgy later on.
Poor Big O gets the shit end of the stick, though. Or at least I personally never got any good mileage out of him.

It's only a myth, yes, but the real reason Supers suck in D is because they have Armor values like it's Alpha Gaiden and damage values like it's OG2. Armor works exactly as it's supposed to, it just so happens that Armor is also bullshit low.
Crank the shit out of Defense and max the Armor and you'll see some proper durability, but you have to do both where normally you only have to do one or the other.

When you put it this way, the first choices seem to be a lot worse than the second choices.
-An early game Puzzle Robo stage is meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
-The Gundam Mk-III is grunt tier, while the HWS is an upgrade to one of your best reals.
-The extra attacks for Daltanius might be cool if you're using it (though I remember them being hilariously inefficient in terms of EN, but don't quote me on that), the other route gives the V2 Gundam 3 goddamn pages of weapons, and I guess a bunch of characters you might not even use anyway.
