You can hate AGE but you can't hate the Legilis.
You can hate this though.
It's my least favorite Vagan suit and I despise it. Even worse than Space Lemon.

I don't hate AGE, but I do like the Legilis.
Everything after Zeydra is incrementally worse and worse, the animators just worked harder to try to make them look cool despite it.

I really liked the game, but it didn't quite work as an anime, plus the anime's ending was a mess.
Mecha designs were pretty cool, though.

Sure it had it's issues but I certainly liked it better than some of the other anime titles that came out around that time.

I actually didn't quite get the hate for AGE. As in yeah, it's far from good, but on the whole it was just mediocre and still quite a far cry from Seed Destiny tier to deserve the hate it got.

If you just take the first arc of AGE by itself, it's a decent story weakly but not incompetently told of Grodek losing himself to his drive for vengeance and Flit following in his footsteps, ready to become the fallen messiah. Fardain is like a somewhat more competent Moon Moon, in that while at the time it felt like an incredibly stupid distraction from the story, in the end it provided a useful explanation for how the cast got enough of a backing force to make the assault they do. Spallow and Titus both got to shine, though it would have been nicer for Spallow to be replaced with a ranged form like Gundead.
The second generation felt the best, but in actuality was the worst. Circlejerking over muh Oldtype protagonist aside, Gen 2 is a story in which nothing happens, no goals of any significance are accomplished, and the only interesting things in it are immediately forgotten about. The brain damage helmet vanishes never to be seen again, while the ending with Flit's hostile takeover of the government is undone five seconds into the next episode.
Gen 3 starts with a promising arc of Kio swinging between childish extremes to find the middle ground his father and grandfather couldn't, but it never happens. People get pissed that he stops being genocide mode, but I don't have a problem with that. It's obvious that he's going to have to stop thinking of war as literally a video game. I don't even mind him having a pacifist phase as he goes to the opposite extreme. The problem is that it never stops being a phase, and during the last act the story keeps finding new and inventive ways to shit itself, culminating in Sid appearing at the final battle for no reason, combining with the Vegan Gear for no reason, Kio getting a last-minute upgrade to fight it, and missing with literally every single shot that he fires from said upgrade so that it's completely pointless.

It had little new features to itself. Even the bits had been used prior.
It's most unique gimmick, the bat escape pod, was never used in the show.
At least it wasn't as dumb as the final boss though.

I enjoyed AGE myself, sure there is many problems that plagued the show but I did find enjoyment with it.

When I first watched MoE, I thought the Red Legilis was pretty great.
After sometime though, I started to prefer the original version. I understand why they made it red (so that it fits in with Zeheart's other units), but I just don't think it worked better as red.

Nah, the wolverine one Asemu fights at the end of AGE-2 is by far the worst. Big pants at the end of AGE-1 is pretty crap too. And space lemon.
