The really dumb thing about Bandai spamming Amuro Zeta everywhere is that the purple was fairly clearly inspired by Hi-Nu which they insisted on making blue all these years.

That's not true.
Izubuchi's original Hi-Nu was a black and white drawing in the Beltorchika manga. He had no official color.
Some modeler in the early 90s scratch built the Hi-Nu and gave it the purple color scheme we've come to recognize. And since then Izubuchi himself has flip flopped between purple and blue, eventually settling for blue and also completely redesigning the damn thing.

There was no particular requirement they use MG Ni-Nu's colour scheme in games or anything. (although the MG itself was the least faithful to Izubuchi's actual new design anyways)

Also the MG Hi Nu Ver Ka was originally blue as well because Katoki had asked Izubuchi what was the better color for Hi Nu and blue was what Izubuchi wanted. However, he backtracked and and pointed out that his leapord spotted cammo on the shield and gradients on the funnels were better suited to purple.

Why does Amuro have a Zeta anyway? I thought the entire reason the Nu was designed was that the Feds wouldn't let him have a Zeta because they didn't want to deal with any newtype ghost bullshit.

The manual of the kit says the hilights are pink, not purple. Its the same coloring as infinite justice unless you want to claim that suit is also purple and not pink. Your connection for the zeta and hinu doesnt work if its not even the same color you are making the connection to.
