No, that was his (or rather I think it was Shapiro's) attempt at making something to beat Dancouga.
The attempt at making a better Dancouga came when they made more bestial Aggressive Beasts, which... I forget how the good guys beat, I believe it was bad guy politics sabotage.

Yeah, these things were from "Project Replicant" and never got to finish off the CBF, they just melted and never reappeared, because of the scabblinbg in Muge's staff.
Also, "Muge's Dancougar" was said to have the same basic design as Dancougar, but nobody calls it that.

It's just a general, catch-all term. The monster in question can be anything since it has to do with how the story is structured and not specifically what you're fighting.

"Monster of the Week" is a format based thing, it describes any time the episode format devolves to "each week there's a new enemy" stuff. That doesn't mean there can't be a running plot in the background, nor in fact does it mean that it has to be a monster as the thing.
Though, I'd argue that some Zeonic MAs might count as monstrous. The Gogg, the Zakrello, the Bigro, the Big Zam, the Braw Bro, those sorts of things.

One of the best designed monsters of the week I've seen in a while, imitates the good guys' aesthetics pretty nicely.

In one of the better Mazinger z episodes, a Mecha Beast named Genova M9 was created to kill Koji boss etc. For some reason or another however it gained its own independent thought and refused to kill a defenceless or wounded enemy. Eventually Genova and Z fight, and before Z can unleash his finishing move, Genova commits suicide.
Genova was basically the protagonist from those old Kurosawa samurai movies, only with a gun and being 50ft tall.
