Chinese guy gave me the summary for Chapter 4.
Chapter 4 -1972
Jürgen was sent to USSR to learn aboutall about TSFs. While testing/training he found the F-4R was not good at close combat, because needed to input/calculate two or three more actions than necessary due to shoddy programming. However, he found that if he turned off auto-balancer ,the F-4R would be far more sensitive but also easier to tumble. He reported it up to the Soviets and hoped the MIG-21 would solve this problem.
The USSR promised that they would supply at least 4 to at most 12 F-4R to Jürgen and the DDR, even though they were also suffering a shortage of TSFs. This convinced Jürgen, that the DDR can only rely on homemade TSFs to satisfy their supply needs. After rubbing elbows and politicking (Jürgen's special power), he got permission from the Soviets to build TSF factories.
East Germany had some serious obstacles however, and didn't even a own tank or plane factory. The first would be lack of money.
He remembered that Beatrix told him that her father, Able, was the senior officer of economics and held much sway in the People's Assembly, so he decided to use some of his charisma on Mr. Brehme to support him on his TSF plan.
The USSR ended up using too many nuclear weapons against the BETA as the became more and more desperate. This caused a nuclear winter to hit Europe. Food supplies dwindled, and citizens who lived in Middle Asia ran to Moscow.
Easy Germany was also affected by this. People couldn't find fresh food in supermarkets.
When the BETA landed, the US and USSR were forced to publish information about them, and suffered some heavy criticisms when it was revealed they've known since 1967 about the BETA.

Jürgen's pretty much the anti-Theo. He grew up with his physical needs taken care of, but never had anyone but his sister around. Unlike Theo, he hated his parents (especially his mother), compared to Theo who had a very warm and caring family. It's interesting how the two almost completely foil one another. Theo's nervous, Jürgen's charismatic; Theo's paranoid, Jürgen's rationale; Theo fell in love with Iris, Jürgen fell in love with Beatrix, and so on. I wonder how they would've interacted if they ever met.

Jürgen would likely be a colonel by the time SM kicks off. Theo would probably end up hero-worshiping him. I have finished the Schwarzesmarken Kouketsu no Monshou.
The BGM is pretty good. The story is good as well because it only includes first three volumes of the novel, no stupid political conflicts.
But Theodor is not full voice, and most CGs are just copied from novel. These are not good.

Beatrix has a far more interesting design than Iris (and really any of the girls), but that's pretty normal for main villains. From a waifu point of view though, Iris destroys her. Beatrix is one of the most evil characters in Muv Luv and is responsible for 95% of the misery the main characters end up going through. The Japanese agree; Iris is still the undisputed queen of SM over there.

Her TSF was severely damaged and even missing an arm when Theo encountered her. She still ended up putting up one hell of a fight though. Beatrix's plan was to use the East as a buffer while the West fucked off somewhere else.To her, it was basic triage. Sacrifice most of East Germany for a chance at survival (and bring along as many other survivors as possible) and then form a unified Germany elsewhere. She was freaking out during the rebellion and was trying to show the West/UN that she still had the situation under control (which is why she was so fucking brutal in the final volumes). To her, the BETA wars were more than just about Germany's survival, but about humanities survival.
Iris and the rest of the 666 opposed the plan on moral/nationalistic grounds (plan called for significant Ossie death). She is an idealist after all, and thinks they have a chance against the aliens if only the East and West would unite and those damn stasi would get out of the way.
Beatrix isn't completely evil. She did let Gretel's BF go when she found that it was his parents were dragging him along (vs Axmann who'd just torture the hell out of you just because).

Basically all the sidestories are mostly irrelevant as far as the war with the BETA goes so they're crammed with more Coup arc shit. From the start the alien invasion was really largely an excuse for an international scale war without America and Russia nuking everyone into the ground anyways, but the problem is the political stuff is not really good enough to carry a good plot and ends up getting the emphasis when they skimp on actual character writing. Kamchatka game version is really impressively shit for that reason.

You can actually pic the right hoices in the VN. In fact, one of the complaints in an Amazon review I read was that you can circumvent a lot of the hopelessness if you play Theo right (thus destroying the meticulously crafted atmosphere of the LN).
