Well, there was a time they balanced things better. From about Deka vs Aba up to Gosei vs Shinken or 199 Heroes it seems like the teams got even focus generally, aside from a couple of exceptions (Shinkenger vs Go-onger gave Sosuke a lot of screentime, but every other Go-onger was shafted, 199 Heroes balanced the two casts, but pretty much ignored all Goseiger setting stuff, like no mentions of the Tower of Heaven or other Gosei Angels).

VS Go-On had the excuse of the Go-On cast being extremely busy with other things since they gained a ton of roles after the show was done. Vs Kyoryu had no excuse for some of the cast members (i.e. King, Amy, and SoujI) as they were doing nothing during filming and could at least expand the finale subplot of King and Amy being a couple. Ian was busy with his music career that he kickstarted. Nossan had Arc-V which during Vs Kyoryu production he was recording the finale of part 1 of the anime. Utchy was part of a play that started showing during production as well.
I feel like the ToQ cast will not have much screentime as well since they also gain a ton of roles since ToQ ended. A sad change but at least it's good to know that they're off doing better things now

Still working on my sentai collection and had a few more questions. Kakuranger has a super video http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Ninja_Sentai_Kakuranger_Super_Video:_The_Hidden_Scroll , apparently, I can't find it subbed anywhere, I assume like the Carranger supervideo it was lost to time?
Also Kakuranger related, Super Sentai World, the team up movie with Kakuranger and the previous 4 teams. I have the [T-N] 1080p version dling currently, but saw that [H-S] subbed the Bluray version as well. However, their dl link for it is dead. Does anyone have a link for it per chance? The actor who played MagiRed is still active in acting, MagiShine's actor became a teacher, MagiPink actress is living in France according to her blog, MagiGreen actor IIRC is a musician and MagiBlue actress hasn't been active in acing since 2009.
The core 6 did however had a little reunion in 2012.

that being said you might want to avoid Gokaiger since its a major anniversary series that spoils major plot points on a few of them
Most any series that came out in the 90s is a solid choice. Megaranger is recommended pretty often
you can catch up with Ninninger if you want to watch it with us, but its kind of far along

As you've been told already, Megaranger and Gingaman are pretty widely recommended as starting points. I'm most of the way through Mega myself right now, and it really seems like the most baseline Sentai of the ~10 I've watched so far.

It's generally the best thing to do. The only way to know if you like something is to experience it yourself. You can go on and on about what toku series is the best for beginners but it never really amounts to much. In the end they are all their own series, some may have more homages to earlier series or not but so what? You can tell them which series are generally frowned upon but they might love it anyways.
People just want to be told what to watch without thinking for themselves.

I still don't get it. It's not even poetic. Gai had clearly become a different person and seemed happy with himself and life, so it's not even like there was a case for that being an exit from a world he no longer belonged in.
I'm not trying to insist on a happy ending, but even for what was essentially a soap opera sentai that just seemed overly melodramatic.

Going back to /ssg/, I wish Takeda knew how to motivate the gobus's cast, especially Hiromu's actor. I've said a lot of nasty things about his terrible acting on gobus but I found him on a J-drama and he seems to be a fine actor. It must be that he really hated working on gobus. A producer's job include to deal with this stuff.

I started watching Toku when I still had 56k internet during Deka and Magi. My only way to watch them was via bootleg HK DVDs (I still have them somewhere).
Deka's HK subs were passable. Not the best but understandable.
Magi was a mess. Character/weapon/mecha/place etc names changing multiple times in the same episode, all the spells were like the subbers smashed their head on the keyboard each time they used them and parts of it were barely understandable at all. That was an adventure.

You can watch Gokaiger and any other sentai series whenever you want. Though some fans, myself included, would reccomend not to because Gokaiger spoils a couple series and you'll enjoy the tribute episodes more if you've seen their sentai series.

No, you're right. We've gotten a green (mostly black) lion, two blue lions, a black lion, and a yellow lion, but if you look at the animal themed shows, or the shows with animal mecha in them the red ranger almost always gets a big cat of some kind (lion,tiger,cheetah) or a bird of prey (eagle, falcon, hawk), and to be fair, blue has only gotten a gorilla twice (Ginga and Go-Bus).
The exception to this is Kaku where red got a gorilla and there was no lion at all. There were two birds, but they were both white. I suppose you could also make an argument for Ninnin where red got a humanoid robot.

That applies to toku in general. I can't find the webm, btu I remember a scene from Kamen Rider V3 that had Hiroshi Miyauchi actually stand up on a moving motorcycle, at like 30 or so mph, and do his transformation pose while moving, and the camera is panned far enough back that you can see the bike is not on a trailer or anything, he's actually riding it.
