Help me here please

There aren't many adaptations at all and it's easy to figure out where to start if you just look it up.
You go:
My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars (prequel movie) -> Overture to a New War (movie version of the first two episodes) -> Legend of the Galactic Heroes (110 episode OVA, you can start at episode 3 if you want as you've already seen that happens in the first two in Overture to a New War though) -> Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Gaiden (prequel/side-story OVAs, not really needed, only if you really want more)

Do you want me to tell you where to get them or are you able to do that yourself?

The original novels have also been licensed by Haikasoru, and will be translated into English, but it'll be a while till they're out. Until then the viewing order >>13552441
mentioned should keep you.

This.

Just finished it recently, while I lust for more LOGH, I don't feel like watching the OVAs (they are prequels).

But I'm glad I watched it. Hyped for the new anime (although it will be only in 2017)

I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but I'm a complete newfig to /m/ and didn't want to start a new one with my semi-related issue: is there a handy guide to watching Gundam? Because there are so many series and I don't know where to start.

I've been following IBO and been having a blast but I notice all these things that aren't explained at all like Sydney in pic related.

Again, I apologize for the the bump.

Production order, for Gundam it only really applies for the first three series and finale movie (Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam ZZ Gundam, Char's Counterattack). Everything after is fair game, but you may want to hold off on Turn A Gundam until you've got a few other Gundam series under your belt. It's not required, but it sweetens the experience.

Original show is so good that most every other Gundam show tends to reuse ideas and concepts from it. You have a choice of the '79 show or the movie trilogy from a few years later. Show has more character moments, movies have extended sequences and clearer themes. Stick with the original audio track if you watch the movies, though, there was a 2000s remaster that changes up SFX and music placement. Also the movie's English dub is really bad (in a goofy way), but the TV show has a much better dub.

Thank you very much, anon! You were extremely helpful. I'll go on nyaa right now so I can get this started.

[EG] is your best bet for Gundam releases. He hasn't done everything, but he aims for archival quality stuff and (in later releases) includes dual audio where available.
