Except there's no such thing as the "best of Gundam" since most of the entries are so different from each other your enjoyment level is completely dependent on your tastes/tolerance of their concepts (moreso than any other franchise).I also don't think any of the Gundam shows are perfect.

I think the issue is that there doesn't seem to be any universally recommended Gundam series, (maybe ignoring the orginal).

It's incredibly easy if you decide on an order. I did production order over the summer, and I've finished with every main title and OVAs. I pretty much followed the guide you posted, but I skipped around the 2000s after finishing Turn A and also went and watched some of the recap movies.
