Technology-wise? I don't really know, it might as well have been Zeonic because they got more funding and support from the Zeon government.

Clearly Zeonic. They made the Zaku, a design which remains influential to the ass ends of UC, and their Gelgoog was hands down the best standard mass production model in the OYW.

Early life? Ziimmad. The Zudah outperforms not only the Zaku I, but also it's next gen replacement, the Zaku II. If the issue of exploding was solved, Zimmad could have been the premier manufacturer of mobile suits for Zeon. Of course the Dom is superior to both the Gouf and Zaku and set the standard for ground warfare.
The only real misstep was the Gyan since it made the same mistake the Gouf did on rely on close combat as opposed to being a multi purpose mobile suit.

They'd designed it to support their Rick Doms, with the Rick Doms probably leading first with their thicker armor, the Gyans going out from behind to close into melee range, and the Rick Doms firing from the rear at battleships and stray GMs.
That whole thing about how they would have been used is all me talking out of my ass except that they were supposed to work with Rick Doms though so who knows.
