I actually really liked watching Mobile Suit combat develop from 0079 to CCA. Seeing Funnels go from the big new thing to being used by literally everything was pretty cool.

Sinanju is designed from both Nu and Sazabi.
Both have funnels (Nu even has a funnel shield mechanic).

Kshatriya stole all the funnels.
Initially, they were pretty damned over powered. A single teenage girl was effortlessly sniping entire battleships by herself, and the only problems she was had nausea and headaches. She only died because of contrived plot bullshit.
