I think power armor will be better than mecha because of less cost, small size, easy to control and so on...
What do you think /m/ ?
Its not as cool though.
power armor is the feasible IRL solution
or doyou think 100m robots are realistic
>>13518580
Power armor is being experimented on we already have mecha in the form of remote controlled robots anon
>>13518612
Just keep the mecha at 4m.
Yes.
Although it would still be an inferior solution to autonomous/remote controlled drones in many situations.
>>13518580
Yes, but real powered armor won't be anything fancy like in anime or iron man.
>>13518772
Real life is lame.
>>13518772
If anything it'd be more like Neill Blomkamp style augmentations/cybernetics.
>>13518785
... with a bomb disposal suit pulled over it, yes. If you're lucky, somebody will remember that we have been making body armour for centuries and use something that has a less terrible cut than the current gen of suits, but that's about it,
>>13518785
I really doubt they'll leave that much flesh exposed.
Blokamp's style is based on actual technology being developed now but,,.
>>13519190
even the guys making it evision a version that's fully armored and enclosed.
>>13518715
Yeah, I think when /k/ says there is no tactical role for mecha on the battle field they are under estimating the role drones will play in future conflicts. Some theorists think autonomous drones maybe the future of warfare. That said, they'll still probably be flying drones, and maybe some tracked drones and there still won't be giant robots.

Europeans could use BA in policing actions in the near future. Lots of bullets and explosions were flying around in those recent raids in France and they'd probably appreciate something that makes that survivable. Would have the side-effect of making catching the perps alive more likely.
>>13518720
people cannot fit in cockpits of robots that small, that's just a power armor which has less lifting power & recoil absorbance than a proper mech.
>>13518580
Power armor is for pussies.
>>13518580
Mini Mecha. The Middle Path and the best of both worlds.
I give it 120 years before this will be one of the common battle implements of future wars.
/thread.
I think that since the technology to develop Dynamic Balance require less work on a Exoskeleton or Robot first OP's statement isn't wrong.
But this is mostly because we are talking of 3 distinct technology (Robot, Exoskeleton, Mecha) which do not have the same range of application
- A Exoskeleton small size is well suited for manual work and indoor use, but not for complex data management and its specs are limited by humans form and reflex. At least without change which would catapult one to Mech category.
- But a mech cannot use a interface meant for humanoid Exoskeleton (1:1 shadowing is stupid) and would be better suited for bigger-than-human weapons & breaking free of humanoid design.
- Aside, while a Robots autonomous-walk could transfer to mech, they do not need the stability enforcement that a manned-vehicle would require. Aside, hacking can make them a dead-end.
...and so, the 3 technology will likely develop separately anyway and for different use.
Making OP's conundrum meaningless.
